Bloody Garmin Express has stopped working on my W10 PC again, it just doesn't sync and I keep getting the error message.

It works fine on my laptop and I have just checked the build on W10 and they are identical, both running Garmin E. 7.3.0.0.

The only way I could fix this issue last year was to re-install W10, I'm not doing that again.

Can anyone shed any light on it? Any suggestions?

My gut feeling is that its Windows 10 and not GE.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Garmin Express?

I've had problems with it 2 or 3 times, most recently a couple of weeks ago, and every time I've found removing and reinstalling it worked.

Do you not just sync your watch/bike computer to phone? Only time I use ge is for creating routes or looking at old activities in detail

I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling, no luck. I am going to try an older version of GE.

My Garmin device is a Garmin Edge 200, so it does not connect/sync with my phone.

Just going through the restore process 🙂

If that doesnt work then I will just have to sync with my laptop. Or the other option is to install W10 onto an external HD and just boot from that when I need Garmin.

I cant reinstall W10 on my PC again, it just takes too long to get it all set up with the software and settings etc.

Try a few registry cleaner perhaps too, just make sure it's not one of those dodgey ones that wants to install crap instead.Lol

Thanks, I haven't used a registry cleaner for a few years, can you suggest a good clean one to use please? 🙂

It must be W10, I used sync after a ride on the 8th Feb, W10 then installed 2 updates on the 10th.

I then tried to sync on the 11th and GE stopped working.

Gave up with it years ago as it struggled to work and caused other issues on the PC. Uninstalled and I just copy the FIT file off the Garmin via USB, then upload.

Or sometimes sync to Garmin Connect on phone but more Garmin quality software means I have to power cycle the device to get Bluetooth to connect (I don't leave BT on for battery life reasons).

On rare occasions needing to do firmware update, there's Garmin Web Updater. Another reason I don't like Express is it used to try to update firmware without asking and Garmin firmware is often buggy so I wait for the reviews before updating if at all.

Its deffo W10. I could not even get the garmin device to appear in my computer as a drive.

Luckily I did find an old hard drive which had a previous copy of partition C, copied it over and now its working again, but I have had to turn off the updates.

Its been a right pain in the arse!!

I keep getting the error message.

Well, that's descriptive.

I haven’t used a registry cleaner for a few years, can you suggest a good clean one to use please?

No. Your registry isn't dirty, leave it alone.

I have had to turn off the updates.

This is an even worse idea.
