It works for me, but I had to do 'stuff' to make it work. Sorry I can't remember what the stuff was - which doesn't much help.

Mine is on Windows 7, but pretty sure I also loaded it up on Windows Vista running Chrome (OH's laptop). Not that that means it will work with Chrome.

There was some kind of uploaded program I had to install to get it to work. Can't remember if that was through Chrome or Windows (Garmin).

I'd be surprised if XP isn't supported.

Garmin Communicator plug-in page says this:

Compatible computers and Internet browsers:
Browsers Operating Systems
Internet Explorer 7.0+ Windows
Firefox 3.6+ Windows & Mac
Safari 5.0+ Windows & Mac
Chrome 8.0+ Windows & Mac
PC: IBM-compatible PCs running Windows® XP or later with Internet Explorer 7.0+, Firefox 3.6+, Safari 5.0+ or Chrome 8.0+
Mac®: Intel-based or PowerPC G4 or later Mac OS 10.4.11 or later with Safari 2.0+, Firefox 2.0+ or Chrome

So looks like XP should be OK. I presume you installed the latest version of Chrome?
