We've been through 3 electric strimmers (B&D, Bosch, Flymo) all with the nylon line reel feed that seems to snap, over-tighten, not feed. So each has gone back to the shop - Homebase did say to me that they get most of these returned as the lines just don't feed.

So any recos - looking possibly at a petrol one with a fixed line (OTT for the garden but Mrs A has an allotment so maybe handy for that). What works?

149.99 for an hitachi strimmer at screwfix the now.

really impressed with mine - although its the 199.99 brush cutter with a grassgator head from ebay. - and i have been a commercial (abuser) of stihl equipment in the past so have a decent baseline.

for garden use , its simple 2 stroke and should last enough to get 150 quids worth of use out of it. its a vicious beasty compared to the eletric weed wand that would just get the long grass tied up in knots round the head when strimming the ditch.

Just remember and grease the drive shaft - thats why it has grease ports 😉
