We need a new garage door at our house, the smallest child has a bedroom over the garage and the steel door on the garage isn't very effective at keeping the room warm.

I have had a couple of quotes for electric sectional insulated garage doors, one was using Hormann and the other Wisniowski. Both seem of comparable quality and insulation. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of either?.

We got a Teckentrup door with a Sommer closure system, about 18 months ago on out detached garage.  The old steel one was a bit knackered (15 YO or more) + like you say gave zero insulation.  For me the concern was the huge exchange of damp air particularly in autumn and the end of thr winter, with all my tools, bikes, camp gear etc in it.

Everything i read up on at the time seemed to put Horman and Teckentrup on the same level.

For us it came down to liking the installation company / seemed a good trustable company to spend the £££ with (we had a matchy matchy side door fitted st the same time).

Certainly very happy with ours. Whilst the garage is unheated and breeze block / render construction, the doors defo helped.  Would do the same again without hesitation.

I've had a Hormann insulated sectional garage door for a few years now, no complaints. I'm not really sure if the insulation has made much difference (I live in a coach house above 3 garages but only mine has the fancy door and it's just breeze blocks between the garages). It's stuck a couple of times half way down but a bit of silicon spray every few months fixes that (I guess there's a sensor on it to detect resistance but it's tripping when there's too much friction on a particular bit of the track, I could probably do something more permanent about it but it's not bothered me enough yet)

Hormann insulated sectional door here, fitted 10+ yes ago & no bother since apart from dropping the remote into a puddle - they don't like water. Just single brick built detached garage but with double glazed side door & window, keeps cool in the summer & frost free (ish) in the winter, no damp problems at all.

Hormann, double sectional door, on blue 838hz system, in a house we bought in 2013, I grease pivots and clean the chain annually, never had an issue. Can get spare remotes on eBay.  Manuals online.

have no idea what I accidentally pressed to get this style of formatting
