I would like to fit skirting in my garage, however the lowest courses of brickwork are quite rough and uneven.

Do they do hollow type skirting or one which clips on to fixings?

Traditional skirting wouldn't work.

You can get box-in skirting that might do what you want.

Otherwise, could you run a batten on the wall at skirting height and one on the floor and box in the uneven bricks?

Sorta like this but nicer obvs.

Be careful where any dampcourse comes up to. I just took some skirting off my garage wall, which has been there since we moved here, because I was a bit suspicious of a plant that was growing from behind the board! Turned out the dampcourse isn't fitted below where the board came up to & it was very damp behind it. It's drying out now.

The Garage has been in place for 16 years now, the damp course is intact and the garage is always dry.

The batten idea isn't a bad idea!

the damp course is intact

It maybe above floor level though and you dont' want to bridge it.

You could add coving as well to compliment your new skirting. It will add that wow factor when your come to sell.

Good idea. But if you’re going for coving you may as well get some mood lighting and a few scatter cushions too.

Dado FTW.

Hang tools from it on those picture hangers.
