I'm having a bit of a tidy in the garage, I want to make it white without spending hours and ££££ sorting it out.

Can I just put Screwfix No Nonsense masonry paint straight on to 60s red brick work?

I know it's "not an interior paint" but I'm sure I won't be the first to have tried 😀

(I know the proper way will be to empty the garage, seal & prime the walls and then probably get some kind of proper paint, but it'll never get done if I have to go down that road!)

Yes. Ideally, brush (or hoover!) the walls first.

You can, but i wouldnt
I would spend a few quid more on sandtex smooth masonary paimt.
Its a quality product, fixatropic, and more importantly breathable.
Great coverage
Buy the masonary rollet set from screwfix ay the same time

Yes, the only difference I found was the wet paint smell hangs around for months if you use it indoors. Asside from that had no problems.

Masonry roller for 99% of it, then a big masonry brush for the edges and any deep bits of pointing that get missed by the roller.

I'd agree with the above. I suspect the Screwfix stuff will be fine but Sandtex is very good if you can find it at a decent price. Definitely want to give it a brush first to knock off the dust and anything loose. A stiff broom works ok for this

Sweet cheers I'll crack on.

Looks like Sandex is actually the same price too 🙂

I used screwfix stuff, it was good as gold, would use again.

100% get a masonry roller and a big brush.

I did exactly this, 60's red brick took 4 coats of no nonsense masonary paint, didnt seal or prime the walls which is why it prob took 4 coats, but still looks good few years later

A white wall with a bit of mud on will look a lot better than what’s there now I reckon!

Rectangle of textured doorstep paint where the wheels meet the wall...

Linky, maybe...

Cheers all, finally got around to doing it, 2 coats of Sandtex.

Once we got the garage tidy enough to start it took no time at all. New shelves and floor tiles on the way too 🙂
