Hi all,

Moved house and the garage door is on it's last legs. Looking at fitting a new one. Have noticed that I can get a decent steel security door for the same price or less as a cheapo UPVC one.

Can't think of a reason why not to? (Obviously I understand that faced with this door, the scrotes will just break in via the paper thin up and over door, but that is also on the list)

I'm looking at these doors just now for my garage as they do reduced sizes. Mine is a marley prefab and currently does not have a side access door so I'm going to remove 2 prefab panels and replace with one of these doors. Only thing was they wanted 90 plus vat for delivery, so I'l probably just have to bite the bullet and get one ordered soon as it seems the less hassle way of putting one in!I was going to get one that opens out and combine with one of these as have one fitted to the shed currently and it's great

Adding security there is sensible. If you aren't using the up and over door much then you can screw or bolt it shut from the inside then use this door as the main access. You can still open up the big door occasionally, it's just more faff.

Yeah at the moment, i've drilled a couple of holes in the runners and put some m10 bolts through them to stop it opening.

Presumably the budget steel door is still going to be pretty full on for a garage door? The size i want they don't do right hand opening outwards in the heavy duty one.

That's not how they will come in.

Up and overs just get peeled out the way

I had to look at this last year. I decided that I would never need to bring a vehicle in to the garage so I therefore didn’t need a garage door. I had the gap framed up and filled and externally clad in nice timber. A set of double doors with same cladding and proper bolts and locks on the inside for security. Works really well and looks good. Added advantage is extra wall space on the door end due to garage tour door not taking up entire with, this space has has now got shelving and loads of hanging space for helmets and stuff

Limited what I can do other than that? Any easy way to attach it to the floor to stop them lifting it? I do need to open it ocassionally, so concrete screws probably aren't a goer. I'll replace it with a new door at some point, but having just moved, there are sooooo many bills coming in (land drains wtf!).

Can't you just screw through the lower sides to the frame?
