I'm considering putting some of these style floor tiles in the garage: Duramat, just wondered if anyone else had used anything similar and had any words of advice before embarking on the task - which I can forsee will involve much coffee and swear words.

I used the vinyl ones from bigdug. Installation was simple. About £400 for my garage. I went grey/black check with a nice 2x4 block in Wahoo Blue.

Absolutely brilliant. Am delighted with them. You will want the mallet for installation and a nice sharp saw.

And like all interlocking floors, be sure to cut the correct end off first for a flat edge. They are not 90 degree symmetric.

Thanks @TiRed, I was considered putting an epoxy flooring down but concluded I'm make a dogs ear out of it. These tiles look much easier.

My next door neighbour has just had his done by a professional. Kingspan and boarded for £220. Might be worth getting a few quotes before you purchase it.

Three advantages of the tiles
1) can move stuff around the garage as you fit them
2) can take them with you if you move
3) make the room feel a lot warmer when you walk on them - I like this one.

I did consider epoxy as well, but too much of a pfaff compared with the tile option. I also added two draught excluders to the bottom of the up and over garage door. The difference to the temperature of the room has been immense. It’s a pleasure to be in there now!

I haven’t built a bike in the dining room since.

Can those vinyl tiles from big dug take the weight of a car parked on them?

Been looking for some floor tiles, but all the ones that can take a car are v expensive

They claim to, but I’ve not tested them.

These?

Look very similar to the screwfix ones which I think would easily take a car. I've got the Screwfix tiles, only issues I've had is they expand quickly in direct sunlight and they absorb dirt but otherwise they've been good.

The very same. Mine take shelving which probably has a higher pressure than a car.

When you say they absorb dirt, could you elaborate?

I imagined that they would be wipe clean and impervious to dirt.

Those Screwfix ones are rather expensive - £80 per 2m square.

You would think they would be wipe clean but the surface seems to be porous and they look worn quickly.

Ah right, that probably rules them out for me then.

I wonder if the duramat ones in the original post are the same?
