Crikey.   That was a bit good if not a little Uber violent.  Watched it last night and apart from the very almost too good fighting powers I’ll be waiting for the next episode in anticipation.

Recommended lockdown viewing - without kids in the room!

Meanwhile everyone else is just binge watching it on On Demand 😂

Thanks for the reminder tho, thought the trailer looked good but then totally forgot about it!!

Some of us don't binge watch, the anticipation for the next episode of things makes it more enjoyable.
As for Gangs of London - yeah pretty much what Kryton said, it's not brilliant and the fights reminded me of slightly less stupid versions of fights from Birds of Prey. I mean if someone has just clobbered you, then has their back to you while they clobber someone else, would you really grab them by the jacket? Or would you actually smash them over the back of the head?? I would anyway.
Jolly japes though, innit.

Is it Sky only?

@Clink or NowTV - free 7 day trial, or buy a cheap code (ideally from somewhere reputable) online. £3.49 for a month as per this HUKD thread (a few people moaning that the supplied code didn't work but it was fine for me) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/now-tv-1-month-entertainment-pass-349-at-cdkeys-3449770

Thanks for the recommendation.

I'm just the opposite as I would probably not have bothered with a few eg. Prison Break, Breaking Bad, as I would 'forget' to watch the next episode. Having said that, both myself and my missus eagerly await Better Call Saul every Tuesday 😉

If you forget to watch the next episode, it’s probably not worth bothering with, in my experience 🤪

Strong 1st episode and I’m interested in more.
This guy made The Raid films and you can see it in the fight scenes. Close quarters in a pub!

Very enjoyable, do find myself wincing at a few scenes and the farmhouse attack on episode 5 was epic!

Episode 1 was great, but Joe Cole is such an awful actor it’s ruining the show for me.

Just started watching it. First episode and quite surprised at the amount of graphic violence. Its one I will be watching alone as my other half won't like this.

after seeing the trailers my wife said it was something we could both watch, she woke up when i was watching it in bed the other night and after a couple of minutes decided it was to much violence for her.
i'm enjoying it and will watch the final one tonight.

Watched the first one last night, I was put off by a lot of reviews that made it sound like 'The Rise of the Essex Boys 4, screenplay by Dave Courtney' but it's okay. Some people moaned it was unrealistic, I suppose it is, but then a billion people watch films about men in tights who can fly without crying that it's unrealistic.

Got a real cinematic look and feel about it.

I'm only an hour into Ep1, we hadn't realised it was 90 mins and we were tired. Going to carry on tonight with it.

We binged it after picking it up through here. Overall, pretty good with a couple of daft episodes. Not going to spoil it for those part way through. Oh, and yes, gory as a gory thing on goryday...

Well, it is slightly easier to suspend belief when watching something fantasy based. Whereas when something is trying to be all gritty on da streets a Lardon, unrealism becomes slightly more glaring, don't you think?

21st century peaky blinders, with some of the same actors, unbelievable fight scenes from kingsman and the tall games teacher from teachers. I keep expecting a random donkey to walk into shot

I tried it but didn't make it through the first episode - just too predictable and cliched.

Seeing as Peaky Blinders disappeared up its own self parodying shark jump after about season 2, this was a pretty reasonable substitute sweary gangster thingummybob. I give it 7/10. Although I hope they don't make much more.

In an earlier ear it would have been classed as a video pasty.

21st century peaky blinders,

Just watched the trailer and it does indeed look like all the above. A glorified excuse for filming a load of tear ups but devoid of the mood that PB brought to the table.

Ruined by Joe Cole for me too. He's just unbelievable in the role. He's too young looking and doesn't have any charisma.

Some of it became nonsensical but the set pieces were great; overall, not bad at all.

I really liked it, OK the pub fight scene was a bit OTT (but entertaining), the over-arching plot is a bit unbelievable and I'm not really sure what s2 will be about (if they make one) but on the whole I thought it was really good.

He was crap at West Ham too. He must have dyed his hair though !

For something new on Sky Atlantic - check out The Third Day. Just started it and it's brilliant. Dunno how I missed it first time round, but don't recall any ads for it on Sky.
A Wicker Man/ Midsommer type deal.

I saw the 2nd, 12 hour one shot episode of The third day, Thought it was really interesting, it was shown in one stretch on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks back.

I didn't watch for the whole stint, saw about half of it in hour or so segments. Don't matter as it was more an experiential thing rather than having to follow plot details, very Tarkovsky in its influences and seemed very appropriate and worked well in a lockdown context.

Wasn't aware of the 12 hour episodes. From what I've read on IMDB they're extras to the actual series.
It's the 6 1hr episodes series I'm enjoying anyway.
