I thought he was saying "Flee you fool" aimed at his brother.
Correct, I watch it with subtitles.
talking of words you didn't catch, I rewound the comment by Bran to Little Finger when LF looked a bit shocked and drew back....and still couldn't make it out! 😕
Chaos is a ladder - demonstrating omnipitence by quoting a conversation LF had with Varys alone.
Getting all the valyrian steel into play I guess.
Makes sense - in the books it's a lot less rare, but they are playig it up to be nu-Glamdring in the TV version
Still gutted Ser friendzone didn't show up in time to parry a killing blow on Dani of the unpocketable credit card.
Why on earth did the dothraki go charging in to battle. They could have waited to properly destroy the lines of defense rather than just put a small hole in it. Loads killed for nothing.
demonstrating omnipitence
Omniscience = knowing everything.
Omnipitence = being a total cheapskate
Yep "Chaos is a ladder" I read it as Brans way of saying "I know you and I know everything you've done" It's going to have Littlefinger assessing Bran as his greatest threat.
Littlefinger must suspect that Bran knows that he made the deal that handed Sansa over to Ramsey Bolton and possibly that it was Littlefinger that ordered Brans death with the catspaw dagger (this is speculation as it's not been revealed whether it was Littlefinger or Tyrion but my money's on Littlefinger).
Why on earth did the dothraki go charging in to battle.
I think they enjoy killing, plundering, and raping.
Why on earth did the dothraki go charging in to battle.
Good telly innit.
Omnipitence = being a total cheapskate
Omnipittance - if you're going to correct someone who can't be arsed to spell check, at least do it yourself.
EDIT: Though I'll take the omniscience bit 🙂
Omnipittance
I think you just made that up.
That - and although fearsome the dragon is not invulnerable... it aborted an attack after a volley of normal arrows from the Lannisters (and obviously there's always a chance of one hitting the rider) so I think without an army supporting/distracting they would've been able to take it down with enough arrows/spears etc (as almost happened in the fighting pit before, although the dragon was smaller/weaker then).Good telly innit.
I wouldn't be surprised if one dragon does not make it through to series 8 - that would also stop any speculation as to whether there's a third Targaryen to ride it!
No way will all the dragons see the end.
I know the big battle caught everyones attention but this was briliant
Pods absolutely loving seeing someone get on equal terms with Brienne
Sansa's like "I'm not sure who's weirder my sister or my brother"
1:27 is a move straight from Arya's old dancing master.
muppetWrangler - MemberI know the big battle caught everyones attention but this was briliant
I thought it was actually kind of lame. I mean, I enjoyed it as a cute gimmick - Brienne and Arya are great characters and it was good to see them interact but it seemed pretty pointless from a narrative point of view - Arya's spent years away training to be a super secret ninja but she just can't help herself and calls out one of the hardest people in Westeros for a sparring session just so she can let everyone know she's a super secret ninja?
Matt Easton agrees with you though 🙂
jimjam, I hadn't really thought about it from a narrative arc just bloody loved it.
But it did serve a couple of purposes. Littlefinger got to see that Bran had re-gifted his dagger and Sansa got to see that Arya probably wasn't joking about the 'list'
alternatively - if she wants to kill the Hound, knowing she can beat the person who beat him is probably helpful?Arya's spent years away training to be a super secret ninja but she just can't help herself and calls out one of the hardest people in Westeros for a sparring session just so she can let everyone know she's a super secret ninja?
Also, it was cool.
alternatively - if she wants to kill the Hound, knowing she can beat the person who beat him is probably helpful?
Not going to happen.
A) She crossed him off the list after leaving him to die.
B) The Hound needs to kill the Mountain for her.
Arya's spent years away training to be a super secret ninja
no she hasn't, she's spent years away, learning from super secret ninjas so she can kill the people on her list.
muppetWranglerBut it did serve a couple of purposes. Littlefinger got to see that Bran had re-gifted his dagger and Sansa got to see that Arya probably wasn't joking about the 'list'
Littlefinger could have noticed the dagger walking past her, and I'm pretty sure Sansa had already realised Arya wasn't joking about the list when Bran referenced to it.
alternatively - if she wants to kill the Hound, knowing she can beat the person who beat him is probably helpful?
Yes but she's a super secret shape changing ninja assassin. She could kill easily kill the Hound by assuming the identity of one of his traveling mates.
If she wants to kill him one on one, that's different and I think the scene made it obvious Breanne would mess her up.
I realise I'm nitpicking, it was a fun scene. But if i was a super secret ninja....
nickcno she hasn't, she's spent years away, learning from super secret ninjas so she can kill the people on her list.
She has all of their abilities, that we know of at least.
But mainly it was cool though eh?
Yeah it was cool.
She has all of their abilities, that we know of at least.
she has no interest in being one of the faceless men, how do we know? because the one thing she couldn't do when asked to shed her previous life, was to rid herself of needle, it's the link to her past She used them like she used Hound (who isn't on her kill list anymore S6EP3)

Yes, we know that she isn't actually one of the faceless men. But they are an elite band of assassins who use stealth to kill people. Let's not forget that Ayra singlehandedly infiltrated the Frey's castle (disguised). Killed Walder Frey, assumed his identity, organises a feast and infront of his immediate family kills them all with poisoned wine.
Yes, she did this for her own motives but it shows pretty clearly that she has all of the secretive ninja ways of the faceless men, that we know of, and stealth is obviously a fairly large component of that.
It's also a throwback to season 1, the last time she was in winterfell, when they wouldn't let her do sword practice
Cracker of an episode.
Littlefinger sh*ts himself
Arya does ninja things at Brienne
Dany nearly speared in several different ways
Bronn!
2:1 on Jaime having some near-death revelation whilst in the pond by the dragon.
8/10 - needs more Hound, cave paintings were silly.
lovin' all the speculation and plots! 😀
didn't she land a "kill" right away with Needle before Brienne realised how good she was? And then didn't it end with a stalemate, as Brienne was poised to run her through but Arya's dagger was already at her throat?I think the scene made it obvious Breanne would mess her up.
Definitely needs more Hound.
He is the best one.
😀

yes....funny how peeps are seeing such different stuff throughout.
One thing that is becoming clear is that even if there were two more series after this one, there is not enough time for the story to conclude satisfactorily! 🙁

I read it that she was caught unawares by someone she regarded as a harmless child (who she's sworn to protect). Also, to your earlier point that she was using Brienne as a gauge to see how she would fair against the Hound, I thought the hound had nearly died of some kind of sickenss shortly before they fought.

Better to burn out than fade away.
I'd not given her motivation for the fight any thought until it was mentioned here tbh, that was just an off-the-cuff theory! Also I'd forgotten about her crossing the hound off the list earlier when she thought he was dead. That'll probably absolve him when she discovers he's still alive especially as he's a goody now! Also, to your earlier point that she was using Brienne as a gauge to see how she would fair against the Hound, I thought the hound had nearly died of some kind of sickenss shortly before they fought.
Did make me laugh when Brienne stuck the boot in against Arya! Sworn protector indeed! 😆
Must have been someone else, sorry.
interesting interview in the Telegraph about the making of that episode. The battle scene took 18 days to shoot and then several weeks to doing all the effects. Brienne and Arya trained for months before the dueling scene which took two days to film.
Re the dragon flaming, one shot had 20 stuntmen burning for about 15 secs which is the most they can do as they are holding their breath!
Rockape, did you watch that video I posted back there? Really good look behind the scenes.
no, that was me, just it was a spur of the momentMust have been someone else, sorry.
thought rather than what I thought was really going to happen!!
@Rockape, yeah you can really see where all the millions are going, the battles & dragon (for this series, there have been some questionable CGI bits previously!) are incredibly well done, better than anything else on TV or film even IMO
There's a overall lack of impossible physics during the CGI, which is nice.
Lucas, I'm looking at you. And you, Jackson.
Yes, yes, dragons etc.
So, let me see if I have this right.
Team Cersei has the iron bank backing her and a ton of food and only a single front to maintain.
Team Starkgaeryn are looking a bit short on resources and squaring up on two fronts.
The Walkers have immortality and reanimation and a hugemungous army of zombies, and an area of the map where nobody else can go.
Odds, anyone?
Odds, anyone?
I'd like to see the undead win. Most of Team Human just annoy me.
I know this will not happen.

Except the way the dragon fire shoots out towards the ground in a dead straight line while they're flying along.
would be a great ending though, a nice dose of nihilism to make GoT stand out from every other fantasy [s]yawnfest[/s] epic out there.I know this will not happen.
I know this will not happen.
I think it would end the series [s]nicely[/s] [s]badly[/s] differently.
Makes you wonder what the undead want to do once they've exterminated all human life. And they hate the heat, so it would make sense if everyone retreated to Dorne.
Actually, there's a theory...
Makes you wonder what the undead want to do once they've exterminated all human life.
Not sure they know. After all, they were created by The Children Of The Forest to kill men, with no further instructions/motivations after that point.
I wondered about the shot where it paused on littlefinger after the Brianne ayra fight. There is a clear raven/crows cawing sound in the background... Almost as though to hint that he is being watched by bran.... And that he is realising all the Starks are aligning against him.
Rockape, did you watch that video I posted back there? Really good look behind the scenes.
Saw the one on the sword fight....think he was taking it all far too seriously! 🙂
Bout time a leading cast member got wasted (ep 5)....but who? 😕
Only three episodes left FFS...although the last one is 90mins long. 😀
It's definitely got too comfortable, a lot of the best moments have been based around the unkillable (not in a physical sense but because they're an apparently pivotal character) being bumped off.
In the next episode I'd like to see a big hitter from Team Northerners & Dragons die. Mainly as they seem to have waaaay more important players on their team.
Off the top of my head.
Sansa, Ayra, Jon Snow, Brianne, Dany, Tyrion, [s]Dumbledore[/s] Sam Tarly, Grey Worm, Sir Davos, Dragons, Theon and his sister.
vs
Bron, Cersei, Jaime, Mountain and Euron.
p.s: no one cares about Dorne.
Failing that, a 60 min Hound episode.

Might have already happened. Must be hard to swim in armour.

My thought there was that he was up at the Maester's ravens sending some out/making plans?
I also do think they have shied away from killing off major characters and things are getting a little contrived.

No not that one, the making of featurette on Game of Thrones own youtube channel. Well worth a watch.

I'm sure someone will give him a hand.
I think thoros or Berric will get offed by white walkers leaving the hound to go crazy apesh1t bonkers, call the night king a white faced *insert expletive of choice* before hoofing him in the icicles and looking for a someone else to kill
Nothing to see here....
What's this now? Looks a bit spoilery.

Oh...I did look and only saw the sword fight vids. Will have another look.
🙄 Yeah....really not into spoilery things...I cover my eyes and sing la la la!
Just stills from the s07 trailer, not allowed?
Personally I would say yes.
...but then I can't comprehend how anyone would watch a shite copy, rather than wait a few extra days. Plus you now have longer to go till the next one.
As mentioned, it this forum wasn't the message board equivalent of AM radio, then we would have proper spoiler tags. So those who want to see can, and those who don't don't have to leave the thread for a couple of days.
We don't need spoiler tags just know when it hits 8pm Sunday in the US it's time to talk about the next episode. Until then no leaks
🙄 whats that DavidB....looks a bit sus!

Indeed, I opened the thread on Monday morning and quickly realised peeps were talking about ep 4.....so made a swift departure!
^^It's not a spoiler.
Apparently Bronn is Jerome of Robson and Jerome fame (80's actor who did some music cover for the young uns). What with Lovejoy as well you wonder if there any more stars to come out of the woodwork.
Apparently Bronn is Jerome of Robson and Jerome fame
You only just found that out?
In other news ned stark was in a couple of films and Sam's boss was in Harry Potter
Apparently I'm slow 😳
....and the Hound is the bloke on the front of the porage.
Apparently I'm slow
You know nothing, Jon Slow.
OMG, he's DEAD!! Who coulda seen that coming?
Lots more teleportation again. Liked that the pace slowed down but can't help thinking still lots of things to tie up / kill.
Lots more teleportation again
To be fair, even they took the piss out of themselves
"I have less enemies today than I did yesterday"
Great episode
But only for those that are breathing. Those undead mofos on the other hand are taking little tiny baby steps.Lots more teleportation again
Seven samurai ending was nice.
Massive hint/confirmation that Jon Snow isn't such a bastard and is actually the rightful heir to the throne of the seven kingdoms after all. Will Daenerys bend the knee to her king?
In other career enhancements I guess Sam is now Lord Tarly.
But only for those that are breathing. Those undead mofos on the other hand are taking little tiny baby steps.
I assume they have to wait for winter to take hold south of the wall before they can march without melting...
Another good episode there, plenty going on, lots of sub plots still and little finger playing games again. I do hope he meets a slow end.
They should have hit snooze on their alarm clock a few times then!I assume they have to wait for winter to take hold south of the wall before they can march without melting...
Did anyone get a proper look at the note arya saw , was it something about Sansa wanting to be queen ?
why is Bran being so weird? he's like emtionless since he became the raven, but he's not emotionless coz he saw fit to wind Littlefinger up. AND if he does know everything, past, present and future he knows who sent the man with the dagger to attempt his life and he knows who will win at the Game of Thrones or when the White Walkers will make it Winterfell but is choosing not to tell anyone else. So is he there to serve any purpose whatsoever or just as a whimsical distraction....
Jon Snow, Beric Dondarrion, Thoros, the Hound, Gendry, Sir Jorah Mormont, Tormund.
Who's not going to make it back?
Did anyone get a proper look at the note arya saw , was it something about Sansa wanting to be queen
it was the note from season one that Cersei made Sansa write under duress saying that her father had betrayed King Joffrey and that she was being well cared for by everyone at kings Landing despite her father's treason. The note makes it look like Sansa agreed that her father deserved punishment which as it turned out was beheading, which Arya witnessed (sort of) from the crowd.
I reckon Bran has learnt from the previous three eyed raven not to meddle unnecessarily, he has a part to play but altering too much of what is written could have drastic consequences. I think he's weird because he's overwhelmed by the enormity of everything.
