fair enough, I just prefer to watch these things as they start. Bit wierd in the modern world to see something and not know what is going to happen - Like Lovejoy not even finishing his market stall or the rest.
Questions from Episode 7:
1) Arya seemed oddly out of character. Last episode she was hiding in the darkness. Now she is boldly walking about in daylight, not even slightly disguised, somehow forgetting that merciless faceless assassins are after her. That's a bit odd. Is this a fake Arya or something???
2) If not then who will save her from bleeding out? Lady Crane? Gendry?
3) Why are the Brotherhood Without Banners suddenly bad guys? The group we met in previous seasons didn't seem like the type who would slaughter a camp full of unarmed peasants for no reason.
Now, where is the Hound?
Have you watched Episode 7 yet?
No. TBH I don't even know why I'm reading this spoiler laden thread. Masochism I guess.
3) Why are the Brotherhood Without Banners suddenly bad guys? The group we met in previous seasons didn't seem like the type who would slaughter a camp full of unarmed peasants for no reason.
Don't they follow the Lord of Light? So a different religion to Lovejoy? Perhaps they are getting a bit militant...
Well that was a bit good, the Hound is back, Yara is off to meet Daenerys and Cersei looks like she's been backed right into a corner with no friends left so hopefully her only way out will be to use the Mountain. All building up nicely 😀
I dont believe that Al Swearengen would be killed so easily and he didnt say "****s" once...
yes i agree the Arya thing was too obvious, that whole scene didnt feel right..
However, she's still alive! which means that nowty lass who stabbed her failed in her assasination. so id imagine she'll face repercussions... and old Jaq told said not to make her suffer.
Best line last night
" I'm going to f... the tiits off that "
yeah, she seems to have cheered up a bit! that speech to Theon was a bit cheesey tho!
I was hoping for her to be approached by an ugly old tart only to deliver the crushing line 'I wouldn't **** her with your dick'
I was hoping for her to be approached by an ugly old tart only to deliver the crushing line 'I wouldn't **** her with your dick'
That would have been the cruellest thing ever in a show filled with horrific cruelty.

Those scenes bothered me as well. Where did Arya get enough coin to charter a ship to Westeros from - that must be a serious amount of money? She didn't have any going into the faceless men, Jaqen H’ghar wouldn't have given her any. Interesting theories here. The second is "Arya was actually Jaqen H’ghar and the Waif failed his test" which they discount because the faceless men wear the faces of the dead but didn't Jaqan H'ghar previously morph into the Waif during Arya's training?
It doesn't feel right that it was the Brotherhood who wiped out Al Swearengens crew - Wiki info says their goal is to protect the smallfolk from any force preying on them, regardless of which King or Lord they support. Wiping out a harmless group of smallfolk, regardless of what religion they follow, seemed way out of character. I really hope that this gets some follow up - it seems a crappy way to bring the Hound back otherwise.
I'm finding this season rather disappointing - maybe because it's the first we've watched live rather than bingeing on - but there are now so many storylines which means they are barely progressing.
but there are now so many storylines which means they are barely progressing
I agree. We are now 7 hours into this series and it feels like hardly anything has happened yet. We'll be lucky to get to the battle for Winterfell before the end of the series.
Does no-one die in this thing anymore?
If Arya doesn't peg it after being gut shotted, and then having a swim in some lovely sewage filled water, I will go punch a wildling.
On the other hand, no Dany storyline, so 11/10 for me this week.
p.s Dorne still exists, right?

She was being trained in the sneaky arts, nickin cash should be easy.

Religious folks getting upity and killing people - most believable plot line...
- but there are now so many storylines which means they are barely progressing.
For me there are a lot of things going along, people are not getting killed for no reason
Arya wasn't Arya. Really don't see that - as pointed out, behaviour totally out of sorts. Pretty sure it's Jaqen posing as her.
Also the official synopsis of the next episode states
Tyrion seeks a strange ally. Bran learns a great deal. Brienne goes on a mission. Arya is given a chance to prove herself
Arya is given a chance to prove herself
I didn't want to mention the trailer spoilers, but since you've said this I will also say that she's in the trailer briefly and appears to have recovered from her injury remarkably well... (my theory is it was a dream sequence).
my theory is it was a dream sequence
"and then I woke up..." pretty sure Lee and Herring did a "Lazy Comedy Slags" bit about that particular setup. I will say I also assumed it was either a dream or not her given her swanning about with loads of cash.
p.s Dorne still exists, right?
I hope not.
What are the white walkers waiting for? Seems like they've killed/recruited everyone north of the wall aside from Bran and his dwindling gang. Even Jon Snow has got to the point where he's not that bothered about a giant army of the dead and decided to start another war.
500!
there are now so many storylines which means they are barely progressing
Really? I think it is thundering along a bit too quickly now and a lot of the storylines have been trimmed a bit too much.
Arya was actually Jaqen H’ghar and the Waif failed his test
I don't think even Jaqen would allow himself to be fatally stabbed just to prove a point.
Religious folks getting upity and killing people - most believable plot line...
It is - but I think if that was meant to be the motivation for the Brotherhood suddenly being bad guys then they should have made something of it when Lovejoy offered them the blessings of the seven.
What are the white walkers waiting for?
Yeah it's not very far from Hardhome to the Wall - though I guess zombies do march pretty slowly.
Maybe they are looking for something to bring down the wall with?
Or finding a way around it.
Even Jon Snow has got to the point where he's not that bothered about a giant army of the dead and decided to start another war.
Well... as Davos explained, part of his reasoning for taking back Winterfell is because they need to reunite the North against the White Walkers.
We didn't actually see who killed Lovejoy's lot though did we?but I think if that was meant to be the motivation for the Brotherhood suddenly being bad guys then they should have made something of it when Lovejoy offered them the blessings of the seven.
Ah, it was the High Sparrow (by proxy)...
Was Lovejoy innit?
Topped his mates then hanged himself .....just to provoke the Hound into fulfilling his destiny and that.
nah, it was a whinny of (presumably departing) horses that brought Bonzo from his reverie. The slaughter of crowd of folks otherwise must've happened quietly.
Honestly sometimes this programme is not terribly realistic...
Erm.. no it wasn't - it was distant Wilhelm screaming and assorted aaaaaarghing:
ah okay. Much better. I was watching/listening on a phone, on my own in a hotel room. Which I guess indicates that I'm a. hooked, b. have poor impulse control and c. a sad life...
Whats happend to the red women and her fantastic pair?
They went seriously down-hill in episode 1
Whats happend to the red women and her fantastic pair?
Chris De Burgh has kidnapped her.
Right, well, that was all jolly good, except for the Arya sequence which I can only explain in the following way:
Arya is Jaqen in disguise.
So is The Waif.
So is the actress who didn't get assassinated by Arya (who is Jaqen at the same time).
And Lovejoy.
And Neil from The Young Ones. Although he might actually be himself, difficult to say.
BTW are there any British actors who haven't been in GOT yet?
the bloke who played benny in crossroads?
I thought he was Hodor?
the bloke who played benny in crossroads?
He played stinky peasant #3 in S05E04.
And Neil from The Young Ones. Although he might actually be himself, difficult to say.
Didn't see him but I think you could mean Tim McInnerney, aka Lord Percy from Blackadder
A Girl has seen that face somewhere before:
Just when there were too many storylines to cover in each episode, let's create a new one by bringing back the Hound! Ugh.
This series has barely progressed any of the storylines at all. What's happened in his series so far? Errr nothing really.
What's happened in his series so far? Errr nothing really.
John Snow brought back to life
Little Shit Bolton taken Control
Mutiny in the Iron Islands
Daenerys rescued then claims an army
2 Lots of Iron Islanders off to strike a deal with her
The Lannisters losing their grip on power
Margery looking very skilled at deception
Ayra path heading back into the world.
So not a lot really..
Ayra path heading back into the world.
Looking forward to this. I like it when she's running around mixing it up like a medieval Beryl The Peril
Was nice to see Percy from Blackadder make an appearance

"I've invented.... Greeeeeeeen , my lord"
The impression I got from the books was that the brotherhood were a bit of a ragtag bunch, not unlikely that there is a few bad eggs. Just watching the hound walk through the dead then picking up the axe was boss. Someone's getting their baws kicked.
I reckon the Hound will end up fighting the Mountain at some point.
Margery looking very skilled at deception
i cant believe old potato sack sparrow man (or that nowty Septa wench) are buying Margaery's scheming!? they are setting her up for some kick ass brutal repentance!!
What's happened in his series so far? Errr nothing really.
Game of Thrones where a dozen relatively major characters dying in 7 episodes is nothing happening 😀

Really liking this episode, not buying Ayra was Ayra though, her mannerisms - walking with her hands behind her back and such were more Waif-like to me.
Yeah something very weird going on there.

There is a crazy fan theory that The Waif is Arya - Fight Club Style. 😀
Woah woah, what is the first rule of fight club?!?
In contrast to the people saying not enough going on - I still think it's moving way too fast 🙁
I sort of wish they made more episodes so each of the little bits were allowed to be longer. Not as long and dull as parts of the books but some parts you just have to watch and think you'll read the internet later to understand what you'd just watched.
AlexSimon - MemberIn contrast to the people saying not enough going on - I still think it's moving way too fast
I'm going to go with the 3rd option... the pacing is good for me, but I've got a very short attention span, I think the series before last was too slow for me.
It's maddeningly good at the moment though, the hour flies by, I think I could handle 2 hour episodes - a film's worth each week.
Yeah if it weren't for all the spoilers out there (inc. office discussions) I'd rather just record the series and binge watch, I think I'd enjoy the proliferation of the parallel story lines a bit more then to.
I got lucky in that I came to the series late. Had 4 seasons to blow through over a couple of weekends/weeknights. Couple of days I got about a 3-4hrs sleep as I just had to know what happened next, but had to be up for work!
As soon as I'd caught up, it became clear that any notion I had of stockpiling episodes and demolishing as a complete season went out the window. As once you're aware of what's going on in the program, you see spoilers everywhere.
I wish GoT was like Netflix stuff such as Jessica Jones and Daredevil, where they just plop out the whole season in one go.
Some impressive sleuthing on the contents of Sansa's letter, presumably to Little Finger:

i did the same thing. wife and kids were away for 10 days while i was redecorating 2 of the bedrooms and the kitchen. took me 3 long nights to finish off the redecorating so i could then watch GOT...for the remaining 7 nights i crammed in all 40 episodes of season 1-4
Some impressive sleuthing on the contents of Sansa's letter, presumably to Little Finger:
I thought this was pretty obvious from the narrative of the last couple of episodes.
It was, but I was impressed that A) they had gone to the bother of actually writing something meaningful on the prop and B) someone was able to extract the words from it despite it only appearing out of focus and obscured for a couple of frames.
Didn't see him but I think you could mean Tim McInnerney, aka Lord Percy from Blackadder
That's the badger.
I'll get my coat.
That was good. Not quite the all out carnage I expected but sets up a brilliant end to this series
Old mate Hound had some good lines.
what....no CleganeBowl??
Particularly liked the hound performing the medieval version of hoofing in the slats.
Hmmm... bit disappointed by the Arya storyline.
No clever tricks: she really was that dumb, and she really was able to survive a severe gutting and then do a bit of parkour whilst presumably still buzzing from opium.
Just as well since The Waif suddenly turned into a [url=
On the other hand I think the other storylines played out pretty well and The Hound was just fantastic.
I notice that "burning cities to ash" was mentioned again... 😉
Particularly liked the hound performing the medieval version of hoofing in the slats.
that was good...especially when the guy's innards slopped out afterwards
was disappointed that we didnt see the mountain actually rip that guys head off....and are we really to believe the blackfish is no longer? we didnt see him die...even Jaime looked like he didnt believe it
So how long before Jaime has to kill Cersei do you reckon?
So how long before Jaime has to kill Cersei do you reckon?
depends on how long it takes him to get back to Kings Landing...all it will need is for Lancel Lannister to blab to him that he was also banging her
all it will need is for Lancel Lannister to blab to him that he was also banging her
I was thinking "Kingslayer Part Deux" when he gets back to find Cersei plotting to burn them all with wildfire...

Old mate Hound had some good lines.
True but as usual Bron stole it 🙂
I hope Podrick is a faster rower than Gendry.
Yeah, but Bronn didn't actually do anything. Like lopping off someones noggin or rather brutal circumcision.
I was thinking "Kingslayer Part Deux" when he gets back to find Cersei plotting to burn them all with wildfire...oh yeah...hadnt thought of that...
"You're getting old" "he's not". 😀
What was the discussion between cersei and the maester about?
What was the discussion between cersei and the maester about?
Given my current theory (see above) I took it to be about finding the hidden caches of wildfire in the city.

6 Episode 9 "Battle of the Bastards" preview
The only thing that wasn't crap about the last episode was the hound, not enough chickens though. 🙂
The Arya storyline was tosh.
It's setting her up for a big role next season presumable so they needed to finish her story before the next 2 finale episodes, so not to fussed with it. I think she's been set up for a reunion with the hound etc next season, which is interesting.
Just as well since The Waif suddenly turned into a T-1000.
😆 my thoughts exactly, bit weird!
It does at least blow the fight club theories though. Probably as above there could have been a long drawn out assassin training thing but she needs to be somewhere else shortly and the good money says North.
