Top quality steel, not much of it left really. Stuff of the old folks which just turns out to be decent at killing special stuff

I thought it was an OK episode, moved a lot of different story lines on but could have had a bit more action in it.

I'm hoping the Arya story moves back to her seeking revenge, aided by her new assassin skills - not sure it needs the added dimension of her being pursued by the other girl though.

I think it's reached a point there's too many parallel story lines now - not in a sense it's too complicated to follow but that you stop caring about some of them as you're waiting for big stuff to happen in others.

So why the pride in Valarian steel?

Nobody knows how to make it any more - it's a lost art (based on Damascus Steel in the real world).

I hope Sam uses that sword to go and wazz his tosspot dad's head off before he leaves. What a Tuesday. 😀

So Jon, Sam and Brienne have sooperdooper swords and Joffrey had one but we are not sure what he did with it?

Doesn't Tommen have one too? (presumably the one Joffrey had)

Less Sex, Violence and Gore actually make it less teenish for me. Bit more grown up as opposed to Adult

Almost as if they're trying to make it more accessible to mainstream viewers - but what would they gain from that at this stage? Perhaps they're just lulling us into a false sense of security?
I was really expecting to be horrified by the scene with Ramsey's wife, child and dogs. Not seeing that was a relief, but also at the same time a bit like it had lost it's edge.

There's "edge" and then there's "baby being eaten by dogs".

Not sure you you would show that on TV under any circumstances.

Valyrian Steel is thought to have been forged using Dragonfire and Blood Magic. Probably true seeing the effect they have on White Walkers.

Most of the houses with them just keep them as heirlooms as they're old and rare.

Quite enjoyed last nights, spent most of it trying to guess who the next corpse is. We reckon Loras Tyrell's days are numbered in our house, Hand of the King has to go at some point as well.

Yep - I skipped that part as I'd got the jist and really didn't need to see it in graphic detail. Glad they decided to swerve it.

This "Behind The Scenes" stuff is quite interesting by the way, if you don't mind the illusion being shattered. Surprising how much is still practical effect and costume mixed in with all that CG.

now that Benjen Stark is back...he's told us that he got stabbed by a white walker and left to turn into a wight but the children of the forest stopped that happening by using dragonglass on him like they did with the very first white walker they created...

question for you...what the **** does that make him?? still human? part white walker? part wight? or something completely different?

did the other girl pay for the hit?
or was it the younger actress?

All, or none, of the above.

His face seemed a bit rotten, but he was also able to talk without sounding like an extra from The Walking Dead.

i agree he may be part human, part wight, part white walker and part something else

according to GRRM he isnt ColdHands....so it will be interesting to see how Benjens story pans out

however it was interesting to hear in the Frey scene, reference being made to the Brotherhood without Banners.
i had a suspicion they would return and i have a feeling that Beric Dondarrion wont be leading them either but a certain Lady Stoneheart (a.k.a. Catelyn Stark)

Can't see them doing the Lady Stoneheart thing directly.

There have been no hints towards it and the show generally simplifies plots from the books. Adding different zombies would just complicate things. Maybe they will reference it somehow though.

My memories awful - every time there's a discussion on here about what happens next, there's a whole raft of stuff I'd completely forgotten about.
Are the Brotherhood without Banners the ones who had Arya for a while?

Paul Kaye, Dennis Pennis, played the bloke who died a few times and got resurrected.

Think the Hound stuck him with a blade and he came back alive.

yep all of the above correct.
they took arya and the hound then the hound had a trial by combat and killed dondarrion who was then resurrected by thoros.
they later took in gendry (robert baratheon's illegitimate son) before selling him to stannis

maybe but it all seems to be coming together. with the frey boys mentioning that the brotherhood are running amok in the riverlands and the blackfish taking back riverrun...to me it seems there may be more to this and we may have a surprise in store

Just caught up.

I can't believe the dire wolves had to die so they had enough money in the cgi budget for that shitty dragon.

Good episode, with the last 5 minutes being pap. I know I am the lone voice on this, but Dany's storyline both annoys and bores me.

I'm also sad there was no awkward romance.

You're not the only one bored with the day story line. Its just full of padding to take up time when the other plots get made overly complicated and so take longer to get through.

^^ No, I'm with you on Dany's stuff. She's so damn entitled and preachy.

Wasn't a huge fan of the episode to be honest. That said it would be nigh on impossible to top last weeks. That was one of the greatest closing scenes to an episode of any series. Superb.

I think Dany's story is (potentially) getting interesting as there is scope for her becoming the bad guy - The Mad Queen - hence her latest speech about tearing down houses and killing everyone, and the talk of conquering instead of bringing freedom. Take it all with fire and blood!

The problem with her story is a bit geographical, it's going to take time to get her to the party and we need to see her development too.
She has the army to do her war, but not one for peace (or snow) will she be able to control them once battle is over?

what are the odds of Hodor coming back as a wight or even as a white walker?

as for Dany T and her barmy army and dragons...we still have to wait for Euron Greyjoy to build his 1000 ships and sail over to slavers bay and seduce her...may take a while

During Dany's speach to 100,000 dothraki at the end, how did anyone after the front row hear what she was saying? I could barely hear her over the dragon's roar in my nice quiet lounge, with proper speakers.

Definitely bored of her storyline and is it just me, or is the quality of the CGI getting worse? Her flying on the dragon looked like something out of a kids TV show.

That's going to be the whole of Season 7.

....and yet will still be more interesting than Dany's storyline.

That would explain why they actually cheered the limp speech she gave. By the time the message got past the front row, it was just a game of Dothraki whispers. They probably thought they were signing up for a buy one get one free beard plaiting session.

*walks off grumbling about why a fiercely patriarchal tribe would be cool about all their leaders being murdered by a woman with oddly expressive eyebrows and a crap CGI dragon*

Nah. She's pretty mixed. She is building an all-conquering army but she has been kidding herself that she is doing it for altruistic reasons: to free slaves, to defeat oppression, to break the wheel. That has kept her partially in check.

But we've seen glimpses of her father's side in the House of the Undying, at Astapor and in the the Temple of the Dosh Khaleen. "Burn Them All", just like dear old dad.

That's the possibility that keeps her story arc interesting to me.

we still have to wait for Euron Greyjoy to build his 1000 ships and sail over to slavers bay and seduce her

Yeah where on those barren islands is Euron going to find enough wood to build a thousand ships, never mind the time it would take to build them.

Terribly convenient that she needs exactly the number of ships that Euron is building - I wonder if Daario (who provided the estimate) is working with Euron.

what are the odds of Hodor coming back as a wight or even as a white walker?

Zero I'd say. As far as we know he cannot come back as a White Walker as it doesn't seem to work like that. The Night's King could turn him into a wight, but I think that would take away from his story a bit so I don't think they'll do it.

Well the Witch pretty much predicted that Cersei would be replaced by a younger queen (Margaery), would have three kids and "Gold will be their crowns. Gold.. their shrouds":

So yeah seems pretty likely Tommen is doomed.

I suspect Cersei will go into complete meltdown at that point.

Cersei will demand a Trial By Combat - which she is confident she'll win easily because she has Frankenmountain.

What if the Faith decide that their fighter will be Tommen...?

Tommen can just refuse. Anyway, the faith will call The Hound. Or perhaps Lora Tyrell. But most likely the hound. If for some reason the faith militant did call Tommen and bizarrely, he did fight (and obviously die) Cersei or Jamie would take the throne as they are legitimately next in line. Apparently.

You think that Cersei would allow the Mountain to kill her and Jaime's last remaining child right in front of her, for her benefit?

She has a lot of flaws - but she has always been fiercely protective of her kids.

Mmmm.. burning cities .. could explain Bran's visions of Wildfire exploding in King's Landing and Dany's visions of a burnt out great hall...

Hell no. What kind of cliff hanger would that be? The Mountain vs Tommen....who's gonna win!!?? As I said, the faith could call Tommen, but he can just refuse. Tyrion asked Jamie to be his champion, he refused.

Last time we saw the Hound he was alive. Badly wounded but alive.

The High Sparrow may be a master manipulator but I doubt he's good enough to convince Tommen to effectively kill himself by volunteering to fight The Mountain.

I could see Cersei killing him though, if he completely turns against her.

What kind of cliff hanger would that be?

A pretty dramatic one if you ask me.

Cersei all smug and defiant at the arena with the Mountain stood next to her, limbering up his head crush. Maybe Qyburn amping him up a bit with some extra Hulk juice. She knows she cannot lose. It's in the bag.

Then the Faith reveal their mystery fighter. The crowd gasp. It's Tommen, unarmed, unarmoured, saying the Faith of the Seven will protect him.

Cut to Cersei's shocked face.. and fade...

As I said, the faith could call Tommen, but he can just refuse.

He could. In fact as the king it would be pretty unusual for him to fight. But Tommen has drunk the Faith's KoolAid now and seems happy enough to do whatever the High Sparrow tells him. Plus he knows his mum wouldn't let him die.

Nah Jaime would definitely refuse - why would he fight for the side he opposes, especially after they stripped him of his Kingsguard rank?

Plus we know he gets sent off to see the Blackfish and try to retake the Riverlands. His interesting quandary will be when he meets big Brienne fighting for the other side!

Keep up at the back. The Hound was removed from Arya's list some time ago.

....and yet will still be more interesting than Dany's storyline

All she has had to do to conquer the Dothraki or, erm, the Dothraki again, is walk through a bonfire and get her kit off.

After the recent episode I assumed it would be third time lucky when she finally joined the main cast of Westerosenders.

Which sort of negates the need for all those chaps on horses.

Her storyline has definitely felt a bit 'filler'.

With all the CGI/make up/prosthetics budget the show has you'd have thought they could do something with her very dark eyebrows. Always look very out of place with her long blond hair. Do blonds ever have eyebrows that dark?

The more I think about this, I am fairly sure history usually went the other way when there was any suspicion of witchcraft, or behaviour they couldn't explain.

I think if I'd just watched someone kill the most powerful warriors in our population and then calmly walk through a blazing inferno without injury then I wouldn't be first in line to challenge them to a fight.

Especially if they had fantastic jubblies.

All she has had to do to conquer the Dothraki or, erm, the Dothraki again, is walk through a bonfire and get her kit off.

Not true - she conquered Khal Drogo through the power of her bum love.

Speak for yourself, the Mountain is still very much on it. I think Arya has enough 'feeling' for the Hound that she wouldn't let the Mountain kill him (which was my point). She knows who burnt his face...
