Thoughts? seemed more like a filler than a finale. That final scene though
Eh!
I thought Walder Frey, Cersei and Jon Snow's storylines were significant enough to have filled a single episode if they'd have wanted to go that way. Then there was the coming together of 3 matriarchs across the sea. Jaime not seeming to like his place in the world. Ships setting sail. One of the prophecies coming to pass. Revealing visions. Davos and his confrontation of Melisandre.
WINTER IS HERE.
More teleportation appears to have happened.... good cinema but even so.
Exactly, been needed for a while. Books are not TV/Film
Where to start?
Cersi thought she was going to be stopped, didn't see her getting away with that but she might want to remember what the average service time in that job is...
King o't' North 🙂 What the north really reminds me of is the north I frew up in, the bit beyond the midlands. Manc/Leeds/Liverpool is your Frays of the world.
Leading nicely into top teleportation and hell yeah the 3 of them in winterfell will be good.
But little finger - he doesn't like a king in the north, good job Jon Stark is not finite
Then the finale 🙂

[/img]
So coming the long way up to collect dorne then onto Kings Landing?
Jaime not seeming to like his place in the world.
He's going to stick it to his sister, one way or another...
Davos and his confrontation of Melisandre.
I wasn't sure what was going on when he found the burnt stag in the remains of the fire. I must have missed it but I'm assuming he wasn't there when they burned Shireen? Seems amazing that he wouldn't have found out later but I guess if all of Stannis' men were dead then how could he find out.
Nooo..Robb and his bride slaughtered...that's downright low! Khaleesi still rocking it...
daaaaaamn!! teleportation aside....dont mess with Arya Stark!!

She's making a list, she's checking it twice, she's gonna make pies if you're naughty not nice.

Hot Pie taught her well
Was it implied that the mountain was going to rape the nun woman? That's the impression I got!

That was my impression too. The septa is the Mountain's plaything until she's dead and even then maybe for a bit.
She's making a list, she's checking it twice
Indeed.

Solid episode I thought. Nothing very surprising though, except maybe Dorne still being a thing.
Really liked some of the cinematography though and the visual storytelling - like Little Finger casting a sideways "I'm being watched" glance at the Weirwood tree as Bran logs on, other the shots showing the crowds at Cersei's coronation with fire literally at their backs.
The Samwell bit was a nice light relief too. I reckon he'll eventually find something very interesting in those there books. Science FTW!
If John is no longer Sansas brother, will they marry?
Filler!? Filler!? I thought it was spellbinding!
Every scene was a treat. 4 or 5 of them could have been the season closer.
Can't believe I have to wait 10 months for the next instalment!
If John is no longer Sansas brother, will they marry?
Oooh I hadn't thought of that. Still a bit wrong, but that doesn't usually stop Targarayens
I reckon that Little Finger will use John not being who Sansa thought he was to try to drive a wedge between them.
Also the Lords of the North swore allegiance on the basis that John has "Ned Stark's blood" but he doesn't.
he's still a stark though, and you'd imagine the targaryen blood just gives him more street cred.
I'd say the likely marriage is him and his sister/cousin(edit, aunt actually init?)?. She's looking to marry someone after she's leathered cersei. King of the North seems the likely candidate(the lanisters days look numbered, though could be jamie if he jumps ship, his dislike of the mad king burning everyone strains that relationship a bit.), guess the jin theory just depends on where brans story ends up, if he's sent on more wanderings and meets up with jon in time to spill the beans.
good episode, even though they are rushing through everything at lightspeed..
Is Jamie L not on Aryas list? Perfect opportunity for some poison surely?
Apparently Jaime is not on the list

That looks like the full list, pretty sure she took the hound off it after he was reasonably good to her
Well I guess if Bran can get there and work out who Jon is in time it will work well for doing a deal with Denny and her Dragons. Tyrion is working his magic of the game of politics and will probably stop her doing anything too stupid and maybe talking to the people who hate the Lannisters before toasting them. In the end Jon doesn't really want to be king does he, just wants a quiet life.
So first stop remove Cersi, Jamie probably won't stand in the way after what he just saw. Move north reunite the 7 kingdoms and toast the army of the undead in 2 seasons. Just need to get some warmer clothes.
Anyway when did invading in winter ever go wrong for anyone.
'there's something wrong, we have to leave, WE ALL HAVE TO LEAVE NOW'
so what was the significance of the white raven?
signifys winter has arrived
Why was Dondarrion and Thoros on it again?
Could be Cleganebowl is back on, Cersei and The Mountain vs Arya and the Hound?
Margaery Tyrell nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo 😥
Margaery Tyrell nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Yep. Bad week to be a smirker in Westeros.
Professional smirker Margaery incinerated in the same week that uber-smirker Ramsay Bolton gets Pedigree Chummed.
Smirking is dangerous. Don't do it kids.
I wish we'd been shown what Margery's plan was about dealing with the seven. Whatever it was it didn't seem to be working before she was incinerated.
Am I the only one to think that's all suddenly got a bit "Sisters are doin' it for themselves"?
We have the Dragon Lady and the Viking Lady about to join forces with Emma Peel and the Dornish Patsies to wage war against Queen Vader in the south.
In the north we have Badass Sansa working everyone like puppets backed up by the youngling Lyannakin Skymormont.
Meanwhile, Ninjarya Stark is creeping about baking peeps into pies and slitting throats.
What's happened to all the blokes?
Jon Snow is starting to look like the token tadger in this story.
I thought it was a another great episode last night, lots of storylines sorted out and just generally felt like everything was being put in place for a stonking final season? There is only one more season isn't there, with only 8 episodes? I'm sure I read that somewhere...
Oh and I actually cheered at the telly when Ayra slit Walders throat 😈
Jon Snow is starting to look like the token tadger in this story.
I don't think he is stressing about that 🙂
some great stuff here:
Started season 4...It's all going too well for Khaleesi...I hope Theons sister reaches him soon.
GoT has always had strong women in it, for me that is one of the reasons it makes it so good. the two males who seem to have mellowed are Jon and Jamie the rest have died by the sword or sitting on the khazi or burnt alive or ...............
Arya Stark can do no wrong as far as I am concerned she is bound to be offed though.
Good to see the lovely one from Dorne again Tyene Sand
A sad farewell to the hottest werepig in King's Landing.
Loved the irony of Tommen jumping out the window.
Not the first teenage boy to "fall" out of a window due to Cersei's actions.

I was disappointed...it felt like a bit of a cop out. I knew he'd die because of Cersei's actions. I would have prefered it if she'd just had the mountain strangle him, or have him die in the wildfire.
She believes he'll die so it would have been good to take the logical step and make it happen.
the two males who seem to have mellowed are Jon and Jamie
and the hound (so far)
The hound mellowed- hes butchered a dozen blokes since reappearing .
She believes he'll die so it would have been good to take the logical step and make it happen.
Nah that would be completely against character - crazy as Cersei is, she was fiercely protective of her children.
Nice detail that I missed in the credits animation for the finale episode the Stark sigil reappeared on Winterfell, replacing the Bolton one.
Wonder if they'll have a slightly charred King's Landing for the next season.
The hound mellowed- hes butchered a dozen blokes since reappearing
Yes, mellowed quite a bit I'd say :-).
Great analysis from Charlie as usual. Careful for finale spoilers.
Meanwhile, Ninjarya Stark is creeping about baking peeps into pies and slitting throats.
Varys and Arya teleporting around Westeros - that I can forgive. It's fantasy after all.
But! Where did Arya find the time to murder the two sons, carve them up (and hide the remains in a busy castle), make pastry, cook the pies, and then put her on costume in time to serve Walder? Have the writers never cooked a dinner for guests? I'll bet her pastry was soggy because she used her grandmother's recipe (from memory) and forgot to season enough because she was rushing.....
Seems like a lot of trouble especially as she didn't let Walder eat the pie!
🙂
She was already wearing the "costume" when she was serving wine to Jaime and Bronn earlier.
Presumably she murdered Lothar and Black Walder, (neither of whom were on the List interestingly), chopped a few bits off, fingers and suchlike, and inserted them into a pre cooked pie from the kitchens.
So winter is here and the white walkers are coming, there's only one way to kill white walkers that I know of and that's dragon glass and there's only 3 dragons controlled by that blonde bit. So either the white walkers take over or she does. The end.
But... there was that little bit of juicy gossip about the wall and how it's got special magic in it.
As it is now winter here in the south I think I might see if I can rewatch the previous series and see what I've actually missed
there's only one way to kill white walkers that I know of and that's dragon glass
or Valyrian steel.
I'd bet good money that they turn out to be slightly allergic to Dragon fire as well.
I'd have a slightly less confident flutter that the wights they reanimate are destined to come into direct conflict with thousands of barrels of wildfire.
acidtest - MemberSo winter is here and the white walkers are coming, there's only one way to kill white walkers that I know of and that's dragon glass and there's only 3 dragons controlled by that blonde bit. So either the white walkers take over or she does. The end.
1) I don't think we know for sure that Dragon Glass has anything to do with dragons.
2) Valyrian Steel was show to kill them too.
Is there really only 1 season left? I can't see how they're going to squeeze in Daenerys wiping out the south, having some issues with the Dragon horn, making an alliance with Jon Snow and a big battle to wipe out the White Walkers all whilst satisfactorily concluding the myriad of sub-plots. Or is some of this going to end up in a money-spinning film...
I thought 2 (shortened) seasons left
But what nugget of information is Sam going to find in the Citadel? How to make valerian steel?
14 episodes, 6 next year or something like that, not sure why not 7 and 7.
Has everything noticed the chandelier thing in the library is the opening credits?
fan theory speculation
Which British actor is left to play the arch maester? My money is on Peter Capaldy
But... there was that little bit of juicy gossip about the wall and how it's got special magic in it
....until the Night's King produces the real Horn of Winter and the wall collapses. Game on.
Has everything noticed the chandelier thing in the library is the opening credits?
Yes I noticed that too. Not sure if it'll be significant or not.
My favourite Game of Thrones reviewer has got around to episode ten.
....until the Night's King produces the real Horn of Winter and the wall collapses. Game on.
Or Bran passes beyond the wall carrying the mark of the Night's King and breaks the spell just like he did for the little cubby house beneath the tree.
[edit]
Oh shit. I've just considered a possible ending. Bran goes south of the wall breaking the spell and allowing the army of dead fellas through but then once they're on the other side the only way to reinstate the spell and wipe out the entire undead army in one go is to kill Bran. And in a callback to episode one it has to be The King of North that carries out the act.
Presumably she murdered Lothar and Black Walder, (neither of whom were on the List interestingly), chopped a few bits off, fingers and suchlike, and inserted them into a pre cooked pie from the kitchens.
I wasn't being entirely serious. 😉 I just liked the idea of Arya spending time baking.
It will only be 7 seasons. the whole is based around that number. 7 books, 7 gods (the sept!) 7 kingdoms etc I'll bet if you looked you could find a load more.
I guess they'll name it 7a and 7b then 😉
I thought it was well known that they'd confirmed 8 seasons.
I stand corrected Alex, http://variety.com/2016/tv/news/game-of-thrones-end-date-season-8-1201752746/
How annoying. It feels like one more season would be enough to bring it to a logical conclusion.
^^
Those Ozzyman videos are always awesome. I think last weeks may have been the best one yet.
What I really want to know is where on earth did Arya get that 'face'??
We saw her leave the house of Black and White and I very much doubt she took a stash with her!
Depends if the Night King busts out the ice dragons 😀
You know this teleporting thing... No timescale was given and whilst it might have taken a few mins in TV time could have been weeks in the 7 kingdoms. Just saying.
hammeriteYou know this teleporting thing... No timescale was given and whilst it might have taken a few mins in TV time could have been weeks in the 7 kingdoms. Just saying.
Arya I'll give you. But Varys ......nah piss off with that.
Well it could have been. But, for example, would Jaime really be partying with the Walder Frey for weeks after the Riverrun siege (long enough for Arya to get there)?
Mind you Jaime got to Riverrun from King's Landing in single episode and returned at the same speed in time to see the Great Sept still burning.
And that big fleet at the end with Varys on board with Dany and Martell and Tyrell ships sailing with them. Isn't Sunspear already on Westeros - do did those ships all sail out to meet Dany just so they could turn around for an awesome panning shot?
All very odd.
Good map here: http://quartermaester.info/
Joffrey's dead...
I knew I'd be wrong somehow! I never really learnt to TV right as a kid.
Some great covers of the music on Youtube. Some questionable some excellent, such as this one. Solo cello plays some of the themes!
I wasn't being entirely serious. I just liked the idea of Arya spending time baking.
I thought the pastry looked a little underdone and the filling seemed dry. Not as good as her Danish pastries, but maybe just enough to get her through to the next round. I bet Sansa bakes a mean brioche though... 😉
Littlefinger needs to stop trying out accents...
Interesting. They definitely both have that same straight blonde-almost-white Targarayen hair... 😀
I'll miss Stemroach but good to that the new Lord Commander of the Wall is on probation. Jonny Vegas for chief maester (however you spell it.)
Anthony Hopkins or Ben Kingsley for Boss Maester but I don't think they could afford them. John Hurt, Michael Gambon? they would all be great.
Bit of cult status with Malcolm McDowell? he'd be a bit cheaper.
lazybikeLittlefinger needs to stop trying out accents...
To be sure, aye he does. So it is. Tis. Yaar.
Anthony Hopkins or Ben Kingsley for Boss Maester but I don't think they could afford them. John Hurt, Michael Gambon? they would all be great.
Hurt could be good or the other way Sylvester Mccoy still has his Hobbit character kicking around I'm sure. Apart from a small number the casting has been excellent Masie Williams is probably the best find, but most of them seem to work well together.
They could probably work a mini series called Jamie, Tyrion & Bron drink the 7 Kingdoms 🙂
What did happen to Gendry?
Still rowing then
