Blimey that was quick

As far as I know it’s mapping and routing you can use on a iPad or pc to create routes (gpx) and these can be downloaded to a gps (in my case a satmap)

Whats the software like for managing GPX files?

I would like to view downloaded, edit them and plan new routes - is it good for doing that?

Assume autorouting is only for roads.

I like it, but then I used to use a bit of thread on a paper map

I bought the old 2015 version and I find it great for route planning ( get elevation and fly through) for downloading and uploading to a satmap. Can create edit, backup (to external file) etc routes , you basically get the map at 50k at the view you want and run the mouse along the map clicking to create way points and ultimately a route, the app is a free download and I saw a bit saying demo maps so I suspect that if you’re interested download the free app, get a demo map and have a play.

The website suggests autoroute does walking and cycling as well, I’ll have a play but an old pc, windows update and maps download is currently painful

meh. It's cheap enough but having had the whole of the UK at 1:50 in both Anquet and Tracklogs over the years I reckon you're much better off having smaller areas of the country at 1:25
(though they have got 1/3 off the UK at 1:25 as well)

It's crazy. For £150 I can have nearly 8 years of access to the whole of the UK directly from Ordnance Survey.
