One of my daughters is in her 4th year at Cardiff, studying medicine.
We are Welsh, and there doesnt seem to be any funding for yr5.
At the moment she has a loan for her fees, and a loan for living which is supplemented by £300 pcm by me.
Does anyone know how year 5 is funded. The gov website is confusing, and im not sure how much of this falls to me or what we can apply for.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks
Ian

In England, the situation is as follows. The Welsh student finance system is rarely - if ever - less generous, so I think she'll be alright 🙂

• In years five and six of your course, you will have tuition fees paid via the NHS Bursary scheme and access to an NHS Bursary from the NHS Business Services Authority (NHS BSA), and access to (a reduced rate) living cost loan from SFE.

Based on my colleagues i believe you can get a loan, but broadly they fall into 2 categories , daddy pays or you just whack it all on the credit card and wait until you hit consultant & start doing some private clinics on top
