Eldest is signed up for the London Marathon, raising funds for the Oxford Hospitals that sorted out his cancer as a child. He is raising about £2k (1k already done from family friends etc). Ideas so far:
Local curry house doing a thing
Coffee morning
Any things that have worked for others would be great.
I wondered about an informal guided tour of BPW, taking my mates and their kids around the Green and blues (or is that dodgy)
We made a good wedge on occasion with the Boys Brigade for a few other charities by:
Car washing (helps we could do 3 cars at once with a gang of them)
Band concerts
Duck race on river
Whisky tasting evening at local hotel
You could stick a link to his sponsorship page up on here I suppose?
Is supermarket bag-packing still a thing? Used to see Scouts etc doing that regularly (pre-Covid, obviously).
Lawn mowing. Car washing. Fetching groceries. We used to do that sort of thing during "bob-a-job" week, although some folk really would take the piss.
Thanks, Whiskey tasting a good idea!
I’ll pop a link up here once he’s awake.
Scouts hand deliver Christmas cards in our village, I think there's a central collection point and you pay 20p per card. They hand deliver the cards, raise a fair chunk. Started planning now so if no local scheme have a go.
Our scouts have the Christmas card market sewn right up. Thanks though.
Here’s the page if anyone would like to donate but I understand it’s a very local charity being for the Oxford Hospitals.

As ever with the NHS, they were amazing and saw us through the most difficult time imaginable.
Our village duck race makes 4-5k every year. Might need to find another duck race and ask them to loan you the gear, and it’s hard work setting it up and managing it, but it’s a good charitable money spinner.

I think in anything other then the busiest times most supermarkets will only have one or two checkouts open these days and everyone else will be doing self checkout
We also with BB's bought a flock of plastic 🦩🦩🦩🦩
People were paying to flock thier family and friends - basically someone would overnight just put them all in the front garden.... IIRC, we suggested a donation of £20-50 and made a good few flocks over one winter.
Having fundraised no stop for years with our two kids...
Quiz nights with simple jacket potatoes and chilli were surprisingly popular and profitable.
Local curry house did a simple buffet night - tickets £15 each, half to tne curry house who also got the bar takings.
Raffles at the above!
Cuddly toy raffles - great way to get rid of the damn things, every family will have some to give you
My dad once organised a car boot sale as a fund raiser and banked a fortune for the cause
Great stuff thanks all.
Matt I don’t quite follow.
