Morning fellow porkers

Its getting to that time of year where the world is ours and gorging yourself on fat-laden calorie-soaked loveliness at any time of day or night is socially acceptable

So how have you embraced the festive season? I'll be heading up to a local cafe after seeing this post on their instagram. These Festive Pasties look awesome!

[img] [/img]

What you got then? Usual rules apply. Nobody wants to know about your salad. How many mince pies did you have for breakfast 😀

So far today I’ve eaten a bar of creamy hazelnut crunch Chocolonely and a packet of 6 Welshcakes.

I shall update this thread when more shite is consumed throughout the day

Running commentaries are a great idea. So far I've had a couple of crumpets, smothered in butter with melted cheddar on top, just to tide me over until pasty time 😀

OMG that looks amazing.

I have had some toast. Had Coroni for two weeks, floored with headaches and extreme nausea. I want to have an appetite so bad.

The chippy here is so good and I am missing out.

I'm fully embracing the concept of 'dipping gravy' to accompany all bakery products at the Halfway House 😀

[img] [/img]

They're absolutely smashing this Christmas lark!

Hope you're feeling well enough for a chippy tea @lightfighter762

Just generously applied cherry jam on one slice of toast and marmalade on the other slice of toast. About to make 2nd cup of coffee on espresso machine, with micro-foamed full fat milk. If I was at work it would be my 3rd cup by now. Reheated and spicified sausage pasta for lunch after <spoiler>exercising</spoiler>.

I shall endeavour to message my other half to bring forth the mince pies from her travels today! Definite lack of mince pies so far this year!

Bacon and sausage on toast from Philpotts across the way this morning. Bit disconcerting as the server sliced it diagonally.

Burger, fries, and a side of chicken wings from Brewdog for lunch.

No plans for dinner beyond a couple of cans of Northern Monk I've been saving.

binners' pic - Is that a placenta next to the pigs in blankets?? It's what I've always imagine a cooked one would look like 😀

I'll be having a curry later. Mostly it's been stuffing my way through a tub of Cadbury's Heroes someone inadvisably left in the office. Thank Mini Crunchie Bits it's Friday 😛

Work has been plying us with Xmas goodies all week, which is set to continue next week (tough gig, someone has to do it) so was planning a break today. A selection box was thrust upon me on arrival at the office this morning, Xmas caterers are arriving in a bit.

Not bacon and sausage. Rectangles!

I agree on other sandwiches though.

My breakfast was porridge, followed by 2 multipack Toffee Crisps.

I popped out to the local farm shop to order the Xmas turkey and just happened to buy a family sized homemade cherry pie. My plan is to eat it for lunch and to dispose of all evidence before my wife comes home from work.

A somewhat unexpected offering from the caterers, and not really for this thread, as there’s next to no saturated fat to be consumed, but it all tastes lush…

Client Xmas do tonight though, order will be restored.

Granola for first breakfast, garden centre full English with my parents (sausage, egg, 2xbacon, black pudding, hash brown, beans, mushrooms, tomato) for unexpected brunch, got a tuna salad roll and egg custard for lunch.

Gym for me this afternoon, then Doritos with football while daughter is at gymnastics this evening, pasta after that, and I suspect a beer after that

Pasty update:

I got there at 11.45 and they'd sold out already 🙁

However, they did have festive sausage rolls in, which were absolutely bloody lovely.

I've also been told that they make everything fresh every morning, so if they give them a call they'll keep a couple back for me to pick up

To be continued....

A couple of days away for work in Winchester has led to consumption of a fine Nepali curry, croissants and coffee, fine sourdough pizza next day for lunch, sticky toffee topped flapjack and coffee, a return to the excellent Nepali curry house, a sausage, bacon and egg pancake drizzled with maple syrup and a vat of soup with wedges of bread.... *burp*
I'm now traveling home and wondering if I need to eat [s]an evening meal[/s] for the rest of the weekend.

Chips, pork chop (large piece and marinate before cooking) and Brussels sprout.

Deep the pork chop first in the chip pan then chips ... yammy! Boiled sprout. All super easy.

Then a big cup of strong dark tea with sugar of course.

All full of cold here and feeling very lazy, so cold leftover cauliflower and potato cheese for dinner; battered sausage and chips with garlic sauce from the village Friday chip van.

I reheated yesterdays sausage pasta with a splash of chilli & garlic oil, and a few splashes of Nash Cherry Bomb chilli sauce. Bit oily in the end, but that's good right? Washed down with two mince pies and a fourth coffee. Cheese and crackers - Dolcelatte, Cornish Yarg, and two freebies from cheese shop owner, not sure what they were.

I've been full of cold this week so not been out, but Gregg's steak bakes are available uncooked from Iceland, so why not?

Yes, I certainly do. None of those grill etc full of smoke stuff. Just deep fried it in the chip pan and it will be done within minutes. Quick cooking, save energy and most importantly Not dry like chewing leather. You can dust the pork chop with a bit of flour if you wish as I do. Marinate is simple just soy sauce and sweet mirin; and no need to drown them but just enough.

Didn’t have chewkw down as Scottish…😉

The Scots will approve of my cooking no doubt, LOL! I don't cook this way often unless I am lazy.

his heart is slowly losing though…

Unless I eat like this everyday then I doubt it is a problem. Actually, with high heat deep frying I don't notice a lot of oil tbh in the meat. But the chips certainly has a lot of oil LOL!

p.s. on the second thought I shall stir-fry pork with sprouts tonight and serve with rice instead, coz I still need to watch the World Cup. I love sprouts me.

@chewkw -  sliced sprouts gently fried in butter with pancetta and chestnuts is the highlight of Xmas dinner here

Try it!

Will give that a try once I get hold chestnuts but the butter, sprouts and pancetta go well together even without the chestnuts.

Jambalaya followed by the last of my home made stollen of the season.

Had to reassure my other half that I will make another before Christmas - there's 1/2 pack of marzipan to use up 😉

I used Paul Hollywood's recipe as a starter but soaked the fruit in rum, you will need more flour if you do this. Made it with lidl's mixed cranberries and golden raisins. Spices wise I went for mixed spice, cloves, cardamon and a dash of cinnamon
I baked it 10 degrees less than he said with a sheet of tinfoil over it for 40 mins then 20 mins with the tin foil off otherwise it is too dark for me.
Be patient with proving it, it takes ages
