I’m in the market for a new full face helmet my current troy lee d3 it’s been a good helmet but it’s taken a few good hits and done it’s job but now I’m thinking it might be prudent to replace it.

Do I just go for a d4? Or something different?like the look of the giro insurgent.fox helmets I just can’t get on with

i would buy what fits and is comfy.

Try as many on as you can until you find goldilocks.

they are all pretty good these days, so will protect your noggin well enough, its just dont to good fit and what colour you fancy.

The TLD D4 is lovely i must admit.... the lad has 2 of them.

I run a Bluegrass and it's a proper comfortable thing.

Buy what fits....

But in usual STW style I won a Leatt Gravity 4.0 helmet and it been excellent. And will cost far less than a d4

i tried loads of lids. The fox ones are really nice but all had a funny fit. The proframe has a nasty mips plastic ring that digs into your forehead!! I found a Poc one eventually that worked on my swede. Like others say, just try on as many as possible to find a good fit.

Yup, found the same. The Proframe RS is a lot more comfortable

The other question is how much of a full face do you want? Like, I don't do much full on dh these days, so I got a TLD Stages- satisfies the rules for racing, but it's also light and very well vented so basically I'll wear it at times where I'd not wear a heavier duty helmet. So it works out more protective overall since they don't help when they're in the car.

How do you find the stage plays with goggles northwind? I read a couple of of reviews that weren't keen.

Litteraly just ordered a bell super dh, having spent the last few days trying to decide between that, a stage and a parachute mcr.

The goggles thing pretty much swung it for me in the end, otherwise the stage was front runner.

(I'd have preferred not mips, having cracked a couple of liners and writing off the helmet when I've caught branches in the past but that seems a very limited market these days.)

I got a fox drop frame a few years ago and I just don’t get on with it digs in after a while.

Definitely fancy a proper full face,do a bit of uplifting and seem to catch the enduro race bug if I’m wearing one I feel like I might as well wear a proper one

I have some ancient Oakley MXs and some newer 100%s and they're fine- is it a size thing?

Quite possibly, reviewer with a small head and huge goggles is quite likely.

For anyone who is interested the bell dh went back, I was borderline on the size and it just wasn't quite snug enough when tightened right up but even if it had been out would have been returned.

The mips spherical which I hoped would be better than the older liner was much much looser than I'd be happy riding in. The outer shell of the helmet wobbled by about 5mm up down left and right. Even shaking my head about at my desk it was noticeable and very annoying, dread to think what it would have been like on the bike.
