No,not a massive fry up,but Full Grayson
Sorry if this has already BinDun ,but I used the 'Elite' STW search and couldn't find owt.😉
I just finished watching it last night and thought it touched on some interesting ideas about how parts of the UK (and attitudes) are the way they are.
I was born in Scotland (Edinburgh) but have spent a third of my life in England and travelling around the UK, both my children were born in England.
Back in Scotland for a while now, these programs have had me (not for the first time) thinking about all our different regions ,their communities and the history that has shaped them.
If you watched it, what did you think?
I thought Grayson did an ok job,he does laugh like Sid James though 😊
Mrs Binners also commented that he seems to have morphed into Sid James
We really enjoyed it. I thought there were some standout bits that were quite enlightening. The Engerland footy fans who were the total opposite of how they're generally perceived. Loved the northern soul stuff in Wigan and Blackpool. Grayson was definitely dancing like nobody is watching 😳
If you've not read it and you clearly like this kind of thing, this is a fantastic book looking at similar subject matter about the regions of 'The North'

watched bits of the first two & enjoyed them, need to go back and watch it all properly.
Like the fact he's concentrating on the positives.
Love the van he's travelling in 😂
Cheers for the reminder binners,I kept meaning to get a copy.
Yeah, the Wigan/Blackpool part was a great reminder of how much a Friday and Saturday can mean to people that have had a hard week.
Always dance like nobody is watching.😃
Had missed this but will be looking for it now. Love Maconie's books - The Pie At Night is good too
@nbt - it is indeed. Cider with Roadies is another good'un!
I've never done audiobooks before, but while we had the long drive down to South Wales last summer we had Pies and Prejudice on in the car with him reading it. Its very good, because when I'm reading his books, I hear them in his voice
@binner, yep excellent book, read it when first published, which a quick check says was 2007! how time flies!
I really like Cider with Roadies. It probably helped there were a fair few examples from late 1989’s and 1990’s bands. I also didn’t realise that Stuart lived in Quinton for a few years - 15 miles or so away from our home.
Cheers, some top suggestions noted
It's been a really good series - he's very good at getting people to open up, and it's been quite a thought provoking watch.
