i'm trying to create a Wordpress site at my domain.

i've downloaded the latest WP file, extracted, then created a database at my site with user, password info, edited the wp-config.php file and FTPd the WP folder and contents into public_html on my site.

when i go to launch the install.php file by accessing it in Firefox, i can't get to it because of a 404 Not Found error.

any clues on what's next?

FTPd the WP folder and contents into public_html

Obvious first question - did you upload the folder with contents, or the contents of the folder?

In other words, did you put an entire folder called "Wordpress" (or whatever) onto your public_html, or did you take the contents (including install.php) and upload them?
