A friend just put me onto this guy, worth a listen.
As part of my ongoing series in which I take songs in a major (happy) key and transpose them to a minor (sad) key, here is my interpretation of "Every Breath You Take" by The Police.

I sometimes do the opposite to brighten up sad passages in songs, Johnny Cash with a grin.
I literally just said right now to the guy who sent it to me, now I want to see it done the other way.
It's a bit late to be firing up the Fender, it'll have to wait till after the bank holiday.
I love that, It's very similar to another cover of that song but I can't for the life of me think who.
eta Denmark + Winter cover of the same song
Ahhhhh yes, the stalkers anthem. Right up there with Two steps behind by Def Leppard.
Cougar, the reverse has been done to the Star Wars Imperial March, sounds totally odd!

It vaguely reminded me of Disturbed's recent Sound of Silence cover.

For the stalker's anthem, see his Right Here Waiting cover.

Oh, thanks for that, that's quality.
Meh - didn't stand that for long - nice idea but an appalling voice IMO
That's pish.
Fun fact: "Every Breath You Take" isn't meant to be a fun song. It is intended to be disturbing.
But sadly Joe Public are crap at nuance.
Sting later said he was disconcerted by how many people think the song is more positive than it is. He insists it is about the obsession with a lost lover, and the jealousy and surveillance that follow. "One couple told me 'Oh we love that song; it was the main song played at our wedding!' I thought, 'Well, good luck.'"[12] When asked why he appears angry in the music video Sting told BBC Radio 2, "I think the song is very, very sinister and ugly and people have actually misinterpreted it as being a gentle little love song, when it's quite the opposite."

Barbie Girl... Never the same for me after seeing a 'dancer' in Baghdad Club, Barcelona surprise me with her act.....

I'm no doubt missing something but that song weirds me out. It's very clearly a story told by a woman, sung by a (baby) bloke.
I prefer the your gormless version
Rockin in the free world. Mericans love it but its a bit er non conformist
To quote Northwind - going minor in a lot of songs gives them a Jewish edge.
After it was suggested on a tread I started some ago* I've been experimenting. Results have been varied - I prefer original stuff TBH...

A better version
And downright sinister
Interesting to switch from minor to major and back again - did this as part of a performance I did with a band last year, where we were being zombies doing a death march. Saints, Amazing Grace and St James' Infirmary starting off slow in minor then switching to upbeat in the normal major key.

Be Worry Don't Happy is superb.
Ah yes - that's the other guy I've heard before - rather than do covers like the one in the OP he actually manipulates the originals somehow - and also does minor to major

Be Worry Don't Happy is superb.
It's dreadful, it's sounds like a hatchet job autotuned. The concept is brilliant, the execution not so much.
The opening of Don't worry be happy reminds me of the Fun Boy Three.
the reverse has been done to the Star Wars Imperial March, sounds totally odd!
Sounds like the national anthem of some banana republic.
It vaguely reminded me of Disturbed's recent Sound of Silence cover.
Now that was dreadful.
I'm no doubt missing something but that song weirds me out. It's very clearly a story told by a woman, sung by a (baby) bloke.
Yep - it's also very clearly a story about a photographer taking advantage of a naive subject:
"You took me to your rented motor car
And filmed me on the bonnet
You got me to hitch my knees up
And pulled my legs apart
You took an instamatic camera..
..You tore away my shirt
..You said I wasn't cheap
You paid me twenty pounds
You promised to put me in a magazine
On every table, in every lounge
But people only hear the chorus, decide it's a love song and play it at their wedding 😆
minor to major at the end of this - works well
...but agreed, the way cole porter simultaneously shows and tells in the three words "major to minor" can't be improved.
Sort of going the other way...metal to bluegrass:
😀
When it comes to Enter Sandman covers there can be only one
