We need a new fridge. I am perfectly capable of doing my own research, but I feel I would be failing as a forum member if I didn't ask on here as well.

Requirements:

Free standing, under the worktop type.
Doesn't need a freezer compartment
DOES need to have strong shelves and doors so that they don't snap and break [s]when stupidly overloaded like every other shelf and drawer in the whole ****ing house[/s]

What is cheap but won't catch fire in the middle of the night?

Thanks

I love the Bosch one I have.
No stupid shelves - drawers you slide out with sections for bottles, salad, etc.
Its a revelation after years of the traditional wire/glass shelf with stuff developing new life forms at the back 😯

Our bosch has been good. I broke one of the handles and the door tray moving house, bought replacements but they were a ****ing fortune! I think the handle was £50!

Quality of plastic seems to be the difference between cheap brands and expensive brands in my experience.

Beko fridge/freezer - shelves and drawers broke inside 5 years
AEG - still in one piece after 10 years
Cheap Hotpoint Fridge/Freezer - broke two freezer doors and a salad drawer inside 18 months.

+1

Although the handle for opening has broken (after 18 months) and needs glueing back together...

+1 for the Bosch. I berated my husband for buying an expensive gimmick when he turned up with it. I have since eaten humble pie. It is very good. Think ours is 5+ years old now.
