Bit confused!

Got a fridge freezer in my garage thats not freezing properly!

Only have 4 1 litre bottles of water in fridge part which is sort of cold and a draw full of freezer blocks and ice cube trays in freezer part.
Am I right in thinking I need to put more in to get it freezing properly? It's running off its own socket and I've had it turned up overnight and the ice cube trays are still just cold water!

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

"in my garage"

There's your problem, they don't like being in cold places, IIRC any thing less than 5degC provides sub-optimal results.

Either that or you've burst the coolant circuit.

Unless you get a Beko that is rated to work at well below freezing.

Cheers, it's not leaking anywhere, and I do remember in the warmer weather it was working ok. Hopefully as the weather improves it'll sort itself out! 🙂

There is probably only a single compressor and temp control running both the fridge and the freezer.

If the temp in the garage is lower than the cut in temp for the fridge, then neither the fridge or the freezer are being chilled. So the stuff in the freezer will defrost.

Freezer in garage OK, but generally not fridge freezer.

As above, it will be a single temp sensor in the fridge and normally that will require the compressor to run enough that the freezer stays frozen.
When the unit is outside and the temps are consistently cold, the compressor doesn't run as the fridge is cold enough, but the freezer defrosts.
We had this problem with a Daewoo fridge/freezer that I got round by running a 20w bulb into the fridge on a timer so it came on twice a day (the fridge was empty) for 30 mins or so. Just enough to kick the compressor into life...
We were only using it as the house we'd moved into didn't have space for a tall fridge/freezer in the kitchen, so we were using the freezer portion just until we got a replacement.

Using this as a beer / bbq fridge freezer so as the weather gets better I'll be able to use it again. Might change it for a freezer in time. Thanks again.

If you do replace it and intend to store it outside in a garage, it's worth looking at Beko freezers.
They are the only ones I could find that are OK to use in the winter outside.
I am sure that most other manufacturers freezers will work fine outside, but they don't guarantee or warranty them. If you look at the specs on them, it will say something like operating temperature +5-35 degC.
Beko ones are rated to work well into minus figures.
