I'm having to manually de-frost a heating/cooling (not sure) element at the top of the freezer of my Bosch fridge freezer (KGH34X50GB/ 07). Not sure how hold it is, I'm guessing around about 8 years old. It works fine again for another few weeks once defrosted so seems a shame to replace without trying to sort...
After some Googling it appears to be quite common. Just wondered if anyone who does this for a living could tell me what its most likely to be? Thermostat?
Also, is there a preferred supplier for Bosch fridge/ freezer spares?
Many thanks in advance
Where is the fridge kept? If it is somehwhere where temperatures drop below about 5 degrees, most fridge thermostats can't cope, as they are designed to be inside.
Check the door seals are good and fit tight to the closure. Any splits lets warmer air in and can cause freezing.
If it is fan assisted then check the fan blade cleanliness and if it is an evaporator that looks like alloy fins, check that is clean too.
Is it freezing mostly at one end ? If so, it could have a refrigerant leak or the compressor isnt very well.
