No need to make that public - there should be a way to make inquests more discrete.

Agree with donald. For the family.

Same with cases of auto-erotic asphyxiation. Its one thing knowing it was misadventure but knowing your dear Sam loved to get off in a really bizarre way? 😆

Oh dear Daily Mail...Can you imagine the shame for her relatives and close friends? Surely somebody needs to start worrying about how depraved a paper is to publish a story like this in such detail. Have some respect, please!

AndyRT - The shame? It might be embarrassing, but I don't see she was doing anything to be ashamed about, it's not like she wasn't doing something that 90% (or more like 100% round here 😉 ) of the population haven't done at some point or other. It's not the 1950's any more....

Never has a story in a newspaper conjured such a vivid picture in my mind. Well written that journo.

Hey Im just a mouthpiece for the Daily Mail! The inclusion of the cat is alittle naughty mind. An attempt at cheap smut?

(Reminds self not to use that knotted tie on the door handle tonight and just use my hand instead)

Thing is- to go out in the height of ecstasy? Beats falling down a manhole cover in November.

Apart from the scenario been what it was and the stigma attached to that etc 30 yrs of age is no time for a life poor lass and sympathy to all concerned, you do wonder why such details were released into the public domain. Not that i am a prude and agree everyone rubs the bonnet of throws themselves around the room depending on you gender but somethings should be kept private.

Anyway i think i saw that video about a woman and a cat somewhere it raised my heart rate as well.

Must remember to wear a HRM from now on just in case i reach my threshold.

Och, what a shame. Poor lassie.
As has been said, it seems a good way to go, although perhaps it makes a case for neutral observers to be present at such occassions - purely from a Health & Safety perspective, of course.

The Daily Mail is indeed a low paper. That item is included purely for titilation. It has zero news value. 😐

Christ get a grip. We all die. Why are the English so repressed about death?

Im sure she didn't set out to die prematurely but I'd rather die having fun than 55, fat and a heart attack (which I probably will).

I'm more concerned that there's porn out there that might kill me if I watch it. Websites should have safety warnings.

You might be onto something there Ian. Perhaps she's the first victim of some new uber-porn, or the porn version of The Ring?

I don't think anyone is being "repressed about death". Ask yourself why you want to read that piece, and why the Mail wanted to publish it. Ask yourself whether your own sofa-based heart-attack in jogging bottoms and a curry-stained t-shirt after over-exerting yourself assembling a cheap Ikea wardrobe ("Witnesses state that Mark's last words were "****. Ow. ****. Gaarrr. Then he lost control of his bowels") would be newsworthy, or whether anyone would want to read it. 🙂

Do you seriously think that that news item is supposed to contribute something positive to a national attitude towards dying? You were supposed to read it, s**** and send it to your mates to have a s**** over. And that's exactly what you've done. 🙂

It is of course true that what she did in the comfort of her own home is none of our business. Of course the Mail only printed the article to give half of it's readers a semi.

That said, the twin subjects of death and sex intrigue us.

I wonder if people would be quite so censorious on here if it had been a bloke who died mid wazz ?

They simply wouldn't bother printing the story if it had been a bloke. But the same points would apply to my mind. There would still be absolutely no news value to the story, and it is intrusive and vaguely degrading.

Not in the public interest, can't see that it's news, it's one thing to rake over people who put themselves in the public eye, criminals and the like but what had she done to deserve this, or her family. Deeply deeply shit if you ask me. You should be able to remember a loved one without crap like this.

I am genuinely surprised by the Daily Mail, I had no idea just how low it was prepared to stoop.

A quick search on Google News reveals that apparently the only other British newspaper prepared to touch the story, was the Metro - which is owned by the Daily Mail. Even the Sun didn't report it ffs.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Nichola+Paginton&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&channel=s&tbs=nws:1&ei=L6Q3TPLYFseQjAeM26DKDA&start=0&sa=N

A couple of good comments at the end of the Metro's article.

This was in the Gloucestershire Echo. They would have had a journo at the inquest. The Daily mail is part of the same group, hence it ends up in a national.
