To kick off, the one and only;

What a great sportsman! Watching him compete really inspired me to do more in athletics. Was never quite a decathlete, but he made me expand my horizons.

Over to you, folks. Your childhood sporting inspirations if you please!

Daley had a son in my 9 year old daughters class at school last year.

He was fine to chat to, but slightly guarded - the number of middle aged blokes who used to come up to him and say what a hero of theirs he was/is I can understand why, though.

Amazed to see a shot of Machine Leshein 😀 from Motox i would say Magoo Chandler, David Bailey Jonny O Mara till he cheated "125 you say pull the other one" From this side of the Atlantic John Reynolds for riding a Beamish, Jack Van Velthoven for being about 9ft tall, Andre Malherbe, Noycey, Nellie Hudson and in Enduro Geraint Jones and Arthur Browning and Dave Jeremiah.

Ricky Johnson too but I liked Lechiens riding style.

My era was Thorpe, Jobé, Nicolls, Herring, Anstie, Dobb, Malin etc.

Ladies and gentlemen, a plea;

I shall not be able to start the P&P thread for the next two weeks. Can I please ask for a volunteer or two? Topic of the day can be entirely at your whim!

Saw him at the Goodwood Revival shortly before he died.

Needless to say, he fell off.

Right in front of where Iwas standing as it happened.

Freddie had a place on my wall for a number of years

But the OP has it right. Daley was a proper man. You know when we had the discussion about if we were gay who would we do it with? Can I change my choice?
