Anyone else watching it? Not what you want to be watching when you're eating your dinner. Strangely fascinating though.

Well, good general knowledge ... yes, having my dinner while watching it but if there is a child birth I think I would faint.

Why would you go on it though? Why not just go and see your GP? Do people get a fee for appearing on it?

That's what I can't understand - someones lived for years with a problem that they find so embarassing they can't talk to anyone about it, then suddenly their affliction is in your living room. Hence why I'm now upstairs on the computer.

I think the reason for going on is to get quicker access to the top doctors.

Yes, you heard from me. My local GP bans me.

I missed my appointment and they refused to give me another one for another 18 days even when I called up to explain and to apologise.

The receptionist then asked me to go to the walk-in centre which I did ... If I am a trouble maker yes, ban me but I have not visited them for at least 3 years now.

but, given you really have very little choice about which GP to use, that has to be wrong?? They're a business with a monopoly

I know mine doesn't particulary like me because the specialist I see keeps sending him letters telling him to prescribe me things off-licence - he's very uncomfortable with that.

It is wrong as he is a NHS doctor and not private ones so I am not sure if they have gone private?

All the receptionist on the phone could say was ... sorry we can't help you so you need to go to the walk-in centre and sorry we can't give you an appointment until 18 days later.

If you tell them it is urgent, i'm pretty sure they have an obligation to see you same day, if only for 5 mins

Nope, told her it was urgent but she replied "sorry but you can only book another appointment 18 days later once you missed yours. You just have to visit the Walk-In centre."

p/s: not even for 5 mins.

Depends how much time you have - if I wasn't working, I would be tempted just to show up on-spec and say "I'll wait"...

I hate it when medical receptionists have ideas above their station.

I told the Walk-In centre doctor about it and he just shook his head in disbelieve.

I could not even believe what I heard from the receptionist ...

I am not sure if she was doing that herself or following instruction from the doctor.

Anyway, I will see if I can another doctor if I need one the next time.

I simply don't believe you, Chewkw. No GP can turn you away if it's an emergency appointment.

You probbly called them all 'maggots' or something, and got yerself banned. Bloody right an' all.

It's like that Gok Wan program where the women claim to be terribly embarrassed by their bodies but find they can show it to 3 million people at the end. I'm not embarrassed by my body but I'd still not parade around naked on prime time TV. I think someone is lying.

Yes, it's true no matter how I tried for another appointment. The way I see it since there is a walk-in centre nearby they (GP's policy) simply shove people over there.

Nope. Did not call him anything but as polite and respectful as ever towards a person with a profession that save life. i.e. a doctor, but now I just feel cheated ...

So it's right that it happened to me? LOL!

You see in the real world there are always tonnes of people with power that got to their heads then think of themselves as superior beings even in a noble profession. They got intoxicated ...

But you see maggots do not get intoxicated, they simply know their place even when they are stepped on, so you see you are better off as a maggot than a person of noble profession who is intoxicated with power/knowledge of medicine that decides other not worth his time so to punish them. People do not seek their service if they know what to do.

So what say you?

😈
