I need a film to watch tonight. Not too heavy, not too dumb. I have Now, Netflix and Prime to choose from as well as iPlayer etc. I'm thinking maybe John Wick as I've never watched it or maybe the latest Top Gun for nostalgic, child of the 80's reasons. What ya got?
John Wick are all good
In the same vein, Atomic BLonde or The Old Guard, both starring Charlize Theron
The Pale Blue Eye is more cerebral than shooty shooty bang bang but a great film
Guns Akimbo is funny, but you could start on the John Wick series if they are still on Prime
Answered your own question with the mention of John Wick. Very enjoyable films.
Is the new Top Gun on one of those services now?
I enjoyed The Gentlemen (Guy Ritchie).
But the John Wick films are good.
I think I'm going for Three Thousand Years of Longing on Prime tonight.
I fancy watching The Plane but not spending £16 to watch it!
John Wick are utter shite, ok the first one was brains out entertainment and ok to watch with a couple of beers, but the expansion of the John Wick world in the subsequent films has stretched the entertainment into sheer stupidity, and not in a good way. I think "nobody" is on prime which is kind of similar but better.
child of the 80’s
Dance craze is on itunes store, maybe available from other sources as well, for an early 80's music documentary.
The Green Book. True story and quite sumptuous.
Now have just got Black Phone which has a dark Stranger Things / 80s vibe, otherwise Top Gun (first 5 mins) then Top Gun Maverick for spot the difference.
I thought 'White Boy Rick' on Netflix was good in a Not too heavy, not too dumb kind of way. Based on a true story fwiw.
Plane.
My take on John Wick is the first is excellent second still pretty good but from there they start bordering on super hero movies.
Jolt is worth a watch with Kate Beckinsale on Amazon. Guns Akimbo was a lot better than I was expecting.
"John Wick are all good"
He said "not too dumb".
Talking of Guy Ritchie I was only thinking earlier I haven't seen Lock, Stock and 2 smoking barrels for ages
I enjoyed maverick. It leans heavily in to it's predecessor but it's quite knowing about it. The flying sequences are pretty spectacular. Good fun.
I haven’t seen Lock, Stock and 2 smoking barrels for ages
I had that thought not that long ago. It's never on TV. Saw it somewhere on a streaming service so gave it a rewatch. It's still very funny, but i was surprised at how low budget it looks. Definitely feels a lot more dated than Snatch
Everything Everywhere All At Once is on Prime.
It's unbelievably silly.
Plunkett & Macleane
EDIT: Oops, sorry. Not available on either of those platforms.
Mad Max: Fury Road is on Prime I think if you've not seen it.
I've just started watching Moonfall 🤣 can't be too dumb, it's about science and stuff.
Withnail and I
Job done
Paper Tigers is fun.
wife, I, and eldest (meeja student at Uni) watched Leon last week. Ages old but brilliant - Gary Oldman is proper psycho scary.
Shooters (it's on YT)
Oh, I forgot, Bullet Train is great. Not sure who's streaming it at the moment but I loved it. Funny, lots of action and just really fun to watch.
Beem waiting for Leon to appear on a streaming platform but not seen it yet. I have it on vhs, and have a player though...
Poops, did you watch Three Thousand Years, what did you think?

Not yet mate, going to be a late watch I think.😁
I’ve just started watching Moonfall 🤣
Given up yet?
Might as well watch Sharknado. 😬
Bullet Train reminded me of Lock Stock and also Snatch the way it was filmed.

Can't wait for the sequel now 😖
Valley of the dead on netflix. Spanish Zombie movie set in Spanish civil war. Use the subtitles not the dubbed version. The sarcy wise cracks are outstanding!!!
