So, I'm enjoying a wee bit of vintage Etta James on my 70's vintage Trio stereo through vintage Wharefdale floor speakers via my vintage ears. I have a very nice set of wireless headphones that I'd quite like to employ as the evenings wear on and the whisky flows. The headphones are normally used with my PS5 and communicate with it via a USB dongle. What I'm wondering is if I got a 1/4 inch to 3.5mm jack adapter, then got a wireless adapter thingy with a 3.5mm jack would it work? Or would the house burn down?

Nice set up.
If it were me, I'd be listening to my vintage Etta, Nina, Ella and the others on a pair of Grado SR80's and an extension cable.
Wireless headphones have no place here!
....and just like that, Singletrackworld comes to the rescue again. Thank you Winston, those headphones look awesome. I'll be having a set of them.
Grado headphones are great if you have hearing loss above 12k as they have horrendous high’s and little to zero bass
They have moderate bass its true. Thats a selling point for me as I hate bass heavy cans. Not sure about the 'horrendous highs' mine are very mellow. It does depend what they are connected to - I tend to use them for vinyl, fm radio and playing guitar. I'm not sure remastered modern streamed pop is their forte.
They are VERY open backed though so others will hear sound leakage if in the same room.
At the end of the day they are quite cheap for the sound quality but not miracle makers
Trouble is, wireless headphones don’t do lossless audio. A long audio cable from a pair of Røde NTH-100 will do what you need. They’re studio-spec ‘phones from an Australian company who specialises in studio equipment, and these ‘phones are their first entry into that part of the market. They’re light and comfortable, the cable can be swapped easily between a 1 meter and a longer cable that can be fitted to either left or right earpiece with a bayonet mount, and they come with a 3.5mm > 1/4” adapter for grownup audio equipment.
They’re well balanced, plenty of bass and a clear, detailed top as well as good well-defined midrange for vocals.
You can get them from Amazon for around £120-130 or thereabouts. I use mine a lot with my iPhone 14, using an Amazon Basics 3.5mm > Lightning adapter, but I’m getting a Fiio DAC so I can plug the ‘phones in using a 1/4” or 4.4mm balanced adapter with the Fiio connected via a USB-C > USB-C cable when I get my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Proper Lossless then.
The other neat thing with the Røde ‘phones is you can lock the headband in place once they’re set to fit yer noggin properly.
Still using my old original Sennheiser HD414s - harder to get the foams these days though.
Grado fan here, if finances allow it's definitely worth considering the SR325's, you will notice a big difference over the SR80's
