You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Holiday plans have changed meaning we need to drive round Paris - the autoroute is in the clean air zone. As we are going next week, we don’t have time to apply for and receive the vignette. What are the chances of falling foul of the French justice system?
When you buy the vignette they send you a receipt by email a day or so later that says it can be used as proof until the sticker turns up (separate from the payment receipt).
We didn't have to use it, but probably worth the 5 euros or so to get one
As above we had to do ours a week before daughter disappeared in the van.
Email came back same day. Did our camper at the same time. She printed it all of as proof of purchase. Stickers arrived a couple of days after she left.
Cheers all - now to scan in the V5!
Do Crit Air expire?
We got one in 2018 and still have the same vehicle
Do Crit Air expire?
Pretty sure it’s for the life of the vehicle. I’ve got one on my van, don’t think it’s got any expiry date etc
That's what I thought too
Thanks
You can just send a pic of V5 as an attachment.
I aslo like to not have the paper flat and my thumb in the pic. I think I've got paperwork paranoia.
I forgot to do it until I was in Paris in the summer so had nothing. Nothing bad has happened yet. There don't appear to be any cameras or anything and a good few cars didn't have one. Mine eventually arrived when I was home so now has more Parisian chic than everyone else around where I live.
As others have said - it costs about 5EUR and takes 5 mins to order it - not worth chancing an on-the-spot fine.
Its also valid in Switzerland as Geneva and other cities have clean air zones
(We Drove to Italy last month)
In France at the moment and not seen many cars with them to be honest but we got one anyway and was super easy. As a slight warming the reason we found out it was a thing is because a good mate got fined the previous month for not having it... So maybe they occasionally check?
Are you sure it's needed for the actual autoroute? I understand that was the boundary of the zone but it was not actually inside the boundary itself - if that makes sense.
When the pollution levels hit a threshold they start restricting the usage of vehicles in certain categories, usually older vehicles. It's not just the cities though as they can do this at a Département level in theory
It's not technically required for the Peripherique, but if there's a diversion or Google Maps decides to shave one minute off your journey and takes you inside the A28, then it's very much required.
It costs all of 3,41€ or something and takes literally minutes to apply for. Why would you even risk it?
Also worth knowing that it just needs to be stuck in a window, it's not like a vignette or umweltplakette that has to be in a proscribed area of the windscreen. I've seen plenty of cars with them on the rear side windows or rear screen.
