Looking for a Staff pup, want a red one but most seem to be blue these days. Anyway trawling through the ads and see quite a few ads for French Bulldog pups. £2-2500 for a pup!!!!! Firstly, they are ridiculous looking things which are no doubt brachycephalic. Secondly, why are these things so expensive? It's not like there are only 10 in the country, they aren't exactly rare which is usually the main factor in pushing prices up. What am I missing...?
They seem to be the "in" designer dog these days. Yes ridiculous pricing.
Market forces at play there. Same with Cockapoos to some extent; 5-600 and up for a puppy and that's for a crossbreed. But, they don't shed and people don't get allergic to them, so people want them and buy them.
I got my Springer for 150 quid because he was the last one in the litter. Truly t best 150 quid I have ever spent, my dogs is both awesome and the best dog in the world.
Wow...someone made a very ugly dog.
The Mrs (who knows about these things) says they are very difficult to breed, so that helps push the price up considerbly (British Bulldogs are much the same). Fashion will take care of the rest of the price
Hundreds of Staff pups in all kinds of colours in rescue centers
I have 3 cats and 4 & 8 year old girls, I need a young pup, just can't take the risk. Plus no rehoming centre would let a staff go to a home with young children. Had this not been the case, I'd have happily rescued one.
This could be why:
Specifically:
Three breeds were singled out as having caesarian rates of over eighty per cent – the French Bulldog at 81.3%, the Bulldog at 86.1% and the Boston Terrier at a remarkable 92.3%.
Bit ****ed up really, as the kennel club has caused this issue due to stupid standards about how a dog should look rather than how healthy they are.
I got my Springer for 150 quid
Bargain, I spent 250 on both my second hand ones...... second one did then also cost me (well pet plan) £1.5K in vets fees due to a knackered tail.
