Just managed to get myself a decent camera which also shoots HD video, are there any free video editing software packages anybody would recommend?
I tried a couple of demo's for paid editors, then went back to Windows Movie Maker/Live Movie Maker. Basic, but easy to use with not too many frills.
I usually use WMM, as above. The biggest issue is that it doesn't natively support a lot of camera video formats so you need to convert your files first. Sony vegas gets good write-ups and the basic version is pretty cheap. A lot will depend on the sort of editing you want to do. I normally just crop, stitch and add a soundtrack.
It's not free - around £40 - but Sony Vegas Movie Studio works for me.
