Anyone able to recommend a decent (and free) Windows app that I am upload my own photos to to create a timelapse video? I feel that there must be an obvious answer to this, but Google seems to be giving me some less simple solutions. Thanks!

Video Editor in Windows.

Windows Movie will do it. You can set a time for each image then create a film. I think they've stopped supporting movie but you can still download it, or maybe they've put that functionality into its replacement.
I'm still using the old Windows Movie Maker, which has been discontinued. You can make time lapse videos in that by dragging and dropping all your photos in and setting the pause time. I don't know what Microsoft have replaced that with, but I'm pretty sure that most video editors will be able to do the same.
Yup, Video Editor, piece of cake. I've even used it before, just not to add photos to, only clipping videos. Thanks!
