my lads in a residential care home and is struggling, both with his addictions and his surroundings. hes been diagnosed with a couple of MH disorders, and currently awaiting an autism screening too, and also a move to supported living but everything just seems to be moving so slooooowly. he gets himself in such a state sometimes that its upsetting for us to see him like that.
he said he'd like to do an online course to occupy his mind and is waiting for his CPN to try and find something suitable, but again, its waiting waiting waiting. so..... i suggested i try and find him something suitable myself.
i proposed a short open university course which hes just started, but its only something like 6 hours i think.
he's asked if i can find him something more comprehensive, with maybe study books, materials etc.
id guess that he wont find a freebie that hands out coursework as here'd be a cost to that, but thought id ask on here to see if anyone can advise? if we found something that definitely would enrich his life then i dont mind shelling out myself within reason.
his interests are history (wars) and current affairs.
any advice is much appreciated.

Open University has loads of free courses to get started with. Search for Open University Open Learn. Pretty good chance he'll find something there to grab his interestÂ

Best of luck.Â
Search Futurelearn for free courses?
thanks for the suggestions, we'll see how his concentration lasts on this first short course and then hopefully build from that.
cheers
Borrowbox may also be useful. It is an app I access for free via my local library. It gives access to books, audiobooks and some magazines. It has a history section. You can 'borrow' items for 3wk at a time.
