Is there such a thing as a free online mapping programme? I normally use quo on my laptop, but I've forgotten to bring the powerpack away with me so I'm reduced to using the PlayBook. I'm planning a roadride tomorrow but don't know the local roads, so does such a programme exist or am I reduced, shock, horror, to using a map (gulp)?
I think mapmyride will create gpx files (or whatever they are) - not sure if the free version does and not quite sure that's what you want, but ...

Bikehike. But beware the 'follow the road' option - I ended up taking the road bike off-road across the moors. It was either that or turn round, follow the way I came for ten miles, and then make up a new ride, not really knowing where I'm at.
The bike handled it surprisingly well.
Cheers guys I will give them a go.
Where's the path for os maps that you can plan and download .gpx files from, BUT, they only have a certain number of allowable map tile downloads from Ordnance Survey and as its late in the day, they have probably been used.
