Seems there might be a realistic possibility Le Pen could win the French presidential elections. Putin loving, Trump aping, EU hating Le Pen FFS! Are French voters blind to what is happening in Ukraine?
I really hope the voters see through that populist, far right BS. A taste of her pro Putin poison.

No lurching about it...seems a convincing jump towards it.
Global politics just feels like a drawn out fever dream these days
And it's pushed Macron to the right to play catch up and retain right wing support. UKIP and Tories anyone?
Would it be unsporting for Macron to point to Putin and Ukraine and say "this is what happens when you fall for right wing populist lies"?
EU hating
She might criticise the EU for not being sufficiently right-wing and racist enough but she is now firmly committed to France remaining a member and has expressed the desire to see the UK rejoin.
Presumably far right anti-immigration governments in Hungary, Poland, Italy, etc, has helped her to realise what can be achieved within Europe.
She is of course also firmly committed to keeping the Turks and all non-europeans out of the EU. If she wins the presidency she will find many allies in Europe.
It is always like that in presidential élection. Polls show them very close. I must not forget to vote on sunday.

Softened her previous rabidly anti EU stance to improve her image, rather than 'firmly committed' I suspect.
How left can solve in every country:
Support everyday family, born in the country they are voting, with 2 kids and 2 working parents. When anyone else comes first what do they expect will happen. In England they are meant to be the damn Labour Party, not the help whoever donates the most to their campaign party.
Same happening in France. Add to the above Napoleon syndrome, trying to destroy core cultural elements of family and working life that are peeing many people off. Macron further handicapping himself with a bad campaign photo pasted over the country that looks like he’s trying to hide the fact he’s just crapped himself…
Let’s wait and see what actually happens rather than polls and speculation. The far right have got this far before and then lost badly when it comes to the crunch
Perhaps the question ought to be why are so many French supporting le Pen? What is going on in France that makes it thus?
The incumbent president is never popular in France, it's a tradition to hate them regardless of whether they have done well or not.
France has always had a fairly strong right wing element, i think the main issue here is that a large proportion of the population hate macron and there is no visible alternative.
It has been a trend in the past where the rest all hold their nose and vote for macron in the second round to make sure le pen doesn't win. Scary part is that might not work this time
I like Macron. I like Hidalgo too. One of them will get my vote on Sunday. I won't be around for the second round but a Macron voter already has my procuration.
I think some of you are misled by Le Pen's "far right" tag. Her social and economic policies are socialist. It's only the nationalist immigration bit that is right wing.

What choice does he have, everyone would take the piss if he admitted it.
France's left-wing politicians make Corbyn look competent. Which leaves a lot of voters politically homeless
Much like farage/UKIP, her mix of thinly disguised racism and seemingly left wing policies hoover up those voters, of course just like farage , it's all a front (well, the socialism bit).
LePen is benefiting from Zamours vote collapsing as his even more far right pro-putin views make her seem moderate.
Frexit would be a possibility if LePen came to power, whatever her stance now.
She's received plenty of funding from Putin and he wants frexit as much as he wanted brexit - see his funding of Vote Leave via Aron Banks
Ultimately I think that will be her undoing, come the second round her close association with Putin will be too much for most, (even as his war raises prices and weakena Macron)
She just had to shred 1.2million election flyers she planned to use because it featured this picture

Her social and economic policies are socialist. It’s only the nationalist immigration bit that is right wing.
So would a better description than far right be national socialist?
