If he can separate his religious views from his academic ones then fine.

I would question how one person who has clearly defined religious beliefs can write an impartial book about another religion without conflicting with his own beliefs.
This is the trouble with stuff that has no proven basis in fact, its subject to interpretation.

Jesus is a prophet in Islam too though - apparently his book contradicts a lot of traditional Muslim teachings about Jesus too.
