There's a few Forza Horizon fans on here but prompted by my son's "I know what I want for Christmas" request this morning I thought I'd have a look when Horizon 4 is out (Horizon 3 is still my favourite game), and yes as per the title it's in good old Blighty.

Due in October, so half price for the savvy in the run up to Xmas. Siiiiiick!

Sainburys were flogging Horizon 3 for £25 in December 2016 (2 months after launch).

Was thinking exactly that when I saw Edinburgh, sod that.

Oh, if you never heard the garbled small print at the end, it's free on Gamepass.

Quite looking forward to this, it looks lovely and FH3 was ace.  Though, with FH2 dropping for free on GwG a couple of weeks back I might be suffering a little from (sorry) burnout.

Red Dead will be the next game that gets my pennies I reckon.

My 8 and 10 year olds are ridiculously excited about FH4.

Might be worth doing on Gamepass for a couple of months (first month will likely be free) before the inevitable price drop and then buy a physical copy in December.

I'm a big Forza Fan - the only two franchises I tend to actually go out a buy at near launch time are Forza and Dark Souls.

But Forza 7 was pretty mediocre so the new Horizon will have to be an improvement and hopefully consign bloody loot crates to history

Look - potholes and half-arsed resurfacing work! Ok not quite Kirklees council 2018 standard but knackered all the same. Other things I'd like to see - Forton Services on any motorway section and a couple of lakeland passes like Newlands. Clearly there's a Scotchlandshire mashup in there.

Never played Forza 7 but as I said before, I thought Forza Horizon 3 was great.  I had a lot of fun with it (and the Hot Wheels expansion is awesome).  Horizon is a lot less serious than the regular series I believe.

Might be worth picking up FH3 if you've not played it (and FH2 is still on GwG for nowt I think).

To be fair to Gamepass they have really upped their game in the last few months, there are plenty of decent titles on there now, definitely worth having.

I've played every Forza from Forza Motorsport 3 onwards.

The two best are probably Forza 4 and Horizon 3.

Forza 7 isn't a bad game its just a bit cynical, it added a lot of unnecessary crap to drive micro transactions while not really improving the core gameplay, it also added quite a lot of restrictions around tuning and car types which spoiled the fun a bit.

and the Hot Wheels expansion is awesome

Not tried that expansion but Blizzard Mountain was ace - hopefully the DLC will be really cheap once FH4 arrives

I love Horizon 3, after years of Gran Tourismo it was a bit of a surprise that it's actually possible to have a fun racing game.

Sadly for Horizon 4, Red Dead Redemption is coming in Oct too, that's my little bit of gaming time taken up for the next year or so.

I found Hot Wheels and Blizzard Mtn a bit meh after the main FH3 world. I lived in northern New South Wales for a while though and travelled a fair bit of Oz and it reminds of what was home.

I used to love Forza 2 on the 360, spent hours playing that but I never took to any of the Horizon ones, bit too open world drive around doing little for my liking if I remember rightly. I've since gone back to my Playstation roots and recently the lad has got into Gran Turismo.

Stuck the disc in last night and still waiting on the updates installing. 18gb on a 2mb rural connection. May finally get to play it by Thursday

Don't they finish a game before releasing it anymore?

I think the disc is essentially the license these days.

Been a big fan of all things Forza since the 360 original. Not played Forza 7 much since I put my wheel and pedals in the workshop to play PC2.

Played this last night and it plays and look ace. 100% arcade and Its terrible with the wheel/pedal option IMO.But we have Xbox one X and 4k TV in the house so "every cloud" I can play it when ever with the pad..The detail in the cockpits are superb.

Edinburgh is really good, Project Gotham racing on the 360 had Edinburgh as a street race but this way way better.

The map is bit weird as it made from parts of the UK joined together and the cheesy story are bit too cool for n old man like myself 🙂

Consoles are catching up with PC games from 5 years ago 🙂

It's frustrating when you can't just choose to play without the updates.

Alex - I'm glad I'm not the only one that struggles with Horizon on the wheel/pedals. F1 2017 was amazing on the default settings but even after lots of research on the forums and tweaking settings I can barely drive in a straight line in Horizon 3, never mind go round corners.. Forza 7 is better but I think I'm going to have to concede to Horizon being a pad/controller game as you note.

Forza 7 is almost totally unplayable for me with a wheel. It's been done to death in other forums, basically the physics isn't right to work with a wheel - but EmuWheel makes it semi-acceptable.

Looking at the dischord group I am on for sim racing most are on the pad for for FH4, sure the others are either bullshitting or forcing themselves. to use their expensive purchase for everything.

I have spent about 6 hours playing it thus far and my 2 boys have probably put in about the same amount of time.

It is bloody ace!

Downloaded the FH4 demo and played it last night. It's just as undriveable with the wheel as FH3, perhaps slightly better when driving the racier cars (McLaren Senna) on tarmac but as soon as you dip a wheel on the grass and get a tank-slapper on it's game over. This is with a Thrustmaster TX on XBox One.

Forza 7 seems okay to me after I tweaked the wheel config based on some suggestions from the forums. What I do find though is that you really have to have the in-car view to get the most out of it. I think with the third person view I try and take liberties with the steering/brakes/throttle that I don't when I'm on the in-car view.. not sure why it just seems like I can "feel" more and try to be smoother when I'm in the car. The Porsche 919 hybrid around the Nordschleife is a LOT of fun. Lost a couple of hours to that last night.

I'm so old and out of touch

Will my 9 year old like this? (he likes FIFA and isn't allowed Fortnite)

Can I play it as well with a different profile or race against him

Will it work on his xbox (it is a few years old, I think it is a 360)

Do i buy a physical copy or download it or both?

He'd probably love it but unfortunately it won't work on an Xbox 360. It's for Xbox One and PC.

just downloaded forza 4 (as part of the gamepass subscription), I'm a bit underwhelmed TBH, feels exactly the same as forza 3 , but with a different set of graphics,  doubt I'll bother to perservere with it.

The game world is no larger than forza 3, and its the same old mix of road racing, off road racing ,stunts etc. I suppose theres only so much you can do with the concept of an open world driving game though. Its a novelty having it set in the UK, and the graphics are great, but  I think they should have called it a day with forza 3, although I guess theres money to be made.

I've not played Forza for years. Bloke at work brought his Xbox in today and played it a bit. Looked much more arcade-like than I remembered it. What's with all the story BS, not time for that I just want to race cars, crash, lose and then find something else to do. Couldn't give a **** about the numberplate, jeeeezus.

Two different things.  Forza is the more serious 'sim' series, Forza Horizon is the arcadey fun series.

What’s with all the story BS, not time for that I just want to race cars

FH3 and FH4 both start out like that, you've to play a bunch of set 'story' races before the game starts proper and you can go do what you like.
