Most regular posters can be weapons-grade bellends, myself included. Heh, me probably more than most.

But here's the thing. "Arguments on the Internet" aside, who would you most like to go for a pint with? Whether because Common Ground or for An Argument.

In answer to my own post, what prompted this thread was, TJ.

Beyond that... Darcy, CountZero, Edukator, shit for all the grief I've given him over the years I'd really like to meet Chewkw.

I'd Poopscoop, Thols, Weeksy, whoever did the old mini rebuild was that Reluctant Jumper? I don't know what I could add to a conversation with any of them, but I find a lot of what they post interesting or amusing. And TJ, of course!

I've been for pints with many forumistas, all of whom have been pretty decent folks to have a pint with.

Never Perchy though, not yet, but to be honest I think the overbearing sexual tension would just make it awkward.

WCA - but I'd keep a safe distance

kayak - for a pint from a jug laminated from wood, carved into a ridiculously intricate shape

I’d go for a drink with most of you. This place is mainly populated by people who’ll help out strangers and show compassion to people they’ve never met. I’m judging most of you are pretty nice.

I’ve only met a couple of forumites when I’ve sold, bought or given stuff away. All were genuinely nice people.

Slight derailment but do you ever meet people whilst you’re out and about, have a little chat and think they could be from here? I always want to ask but if they aren’t it would be weird to explain.

I have asked folk a couple of times but what is scary is I have been spotted and called out for being TJ a few times. Just riding down a trail and a group coming the other way shouted " its TeeeeJaaaaay"

I would say none, but thats me being a social pariah intolerant of uncertainty. I’m the kind of person that’d never enter a speed dating environment.

However, everyone I’ve met across two forums has been a pleasure to meet, last having a ride/chat with Mr Lebowski and a beer with AA at the weekend.

I've met loads of people off here for rides and pints over the years. All lovely.

I'd love to meet all the resident lefties* who I spend so much time calling arguing with on the politics threads. I've a vision in my head of what a number of them look like.

* Apart from DazH, obviously, who I regularly go out for rides and pints with, including last Sunday afternoon where, once again, we never ever talk about politics 🙂

I’ve done that, by Cramond Brig I seem to recall. Bloke on a tandem not wearing a helmet. The odds seemed pretty good.

Binners natch... although i think we have historically been in close proximity over many years at various Leeds "functions"

Also Drac although again i have my suspicions we have met in passing.

Never knowingly met a singletracker and i would like to keep my preconceptions intact.

I have been on a fair few STW rides of various sorts - we used to run a regular night ride in Edinburgh which often ended in the pub.

I can say hand on heart everyone has always been lovely and via STW I have ridden in parts of the UK I never would have otherwise

I've met a few off here buying and selling, and ridden with a couple who became good mates.

There's very few I'd not want to meet, even the ones I've properly disagreed with over the years, as much to see what their life experience has been to make their view so different from mine.

I think "a pint" is a bit unfair, I mean, for arguments sake, I'd quite like to go for *a* pint with corbyn just to see if my impressions of him are accurate. I don't imagine I'd stop for a second.

That being said I'm also much more inclined to be fussy about the pub than the people. I'd probably accept an invite to a decent tap room with farage* before I'd go to a flat roofed pub with Ranulph Fiennes.

So in summary, I'd go for a pint with any of you assuming the beer is poncey enough.

Genuinely, I would love to have a pint with most of you even those who I've had oppositional interaction with in the past - (TJ, Mefty, Edukator etc), for the most part you all seem like a pretty decent bunch.

It crosses my mind every single time someone rides past me on something mildly better than a Supermarket Special.

Like the last kid to get picked in PE.

That was never me.

I was "well, it's Cougar or the fat kid, so I suppose we'll have to take Cougar." That should be my epitaph, "Penultimate Kid To Be Picked At PE."

Oddly enough me too. Though for some reason it always seems to be a roadie who smiles/nods on the way past, odd in that im on an mtb, and roadies are, well roadies.

Perhaps its recognized faces when out at wheelcraft or some such place.

Erm, probably anyone, I don't spend enough time on here to know any of you that well. The ones I have met have been through sales/wants.

Met quite a few forumites back when the MBR forum was still a thing. All very nice people, except one, he was a miserable arsehole online and a thoroughly miserable arsehole in real life. I still keep in touch with a few of them and we meet up when we can.

Got an approving nod from a roadie looking race whippet in Tesco the other day when I was wearing my ST Lockdown tee-shirt.

Assumed he recognised the design, rather than he found me attractive, I should add.

Same here, how people are IRL can be totally different to their online presence but their core values are the same. There's been countless examples of compassion and kindness shown on here over the years that it's hard to believe that anyone on here is anything other than a reasonable person in reality. I know there are lots of arguments going on on different threads all the time but I genuinely believe that if those same people met in a room and sat down to discuss it then the argument would turn into a decent discussion instead. The ones I've met have all turned out to be normal people so far!

Slight derailment but do you ever meet people whilst you’re out and about, have a little chat and think they could be from here? I always want to ask but if they aren’t it would be weird to explain.

A few times now I've overheard conversations between other riders and knew they had to be members on here from what they are saying! Recognised a few people from their bike or car too, even had a couple come up to me and ask if reluctantjumper meant anything to me while out in the Mini a few weeks ago! They had read the thread and recognised the car but they're not even a member on here and I forgot their names so couldn't give them a shout out.

Met quite a few forumites back when the MBR forum was still a thing. All very nice people, except one, he was a miserable arsehole online and a thoroughly miserable arsehole in real life. I still keep in touch with a few of them and we meet up when we can.

Same here, have no idea who you're hinting at... 🤣
Does remind me though that a North Wales trip is in order, had too many Facebook reminders about Revs and Antur the last few days! The Chatel ones will begin in earnest next week!

I’ve met a fair few over the years, that philconsequence bloke, to name but one, was a terrific fella, arranged loads of rides. I’ve even been locked in a room full of beer with WCA, Singletrackmind, somarich (r.i.nz) (residing in New Zealand), andy and Poddy, (was TSTWerFKAFred there? no, but I know we’ll have naked hugs again one day). When I went through my ‘bad times’ I lost touch really, but hopefully it’ll happen again one day.
Oh, did a ride with DrP and SteveXTC and that other fella (plus dezb jr and stevejr) recently, that woulda been fun in a pub after, but it was in semi-covid times.
Yeah, most of the southerners are good blokes 😁

Replace the pint with coffee and mtbing, and I'd happily meet you people, + si affinité. 😉 I've posted more than enough info for anyone who wanted to find me to knock on the door so TJ's threat/promise is plausible, and welcome - there's a bell too. I reply to pms when they're working.

I met some BMers on a UK trip in IIRC 2006 breaking my patela on a ride with D but continued riding until I went for an x-ray in France. It's a bit odd meeting people for the first time already knowing so much about them, once past that it was all good with some great trails, not so good coffee and dreadful beer.

We should make a game of this. Take photo of random person on niche bike, post here. Is this you?

I live on the road approaching Macc forest so could probably post roughly a hundred pictures a day!

ONly one person wanted to continue an on line argument which did get slightly tiresome

One day I'm going to do the Jenn ride thing, just to meet/stalk some more of you lot. But I've got a few under my belt already...

Spent the afternoon drinking coffee with Cinnamon Girl. It was a real pleasure.

Went on Chipps' 30 bithday party. Not sure I had a personal invite, but knew people he lived with at the time. I had massive imposter syndrome, everyone was so darn cool. Then, by strange coincidence me and some friends pitched up in a campsite for the night, in the adjoining field, Chipps was having his 40th.

I met loads of singletrackers back in the day. Although the only one I can recall bumping into accidentally on the trails was aP.

The list of singletrackers I'd like to meet is too long to mention but the one who particularly intrigues me is mefty.
