You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I currently have the older Ford Galaxy which is reaching pensionable age and it rapidly developing a plethora of 'issues' - upshot is I'm in the market for a replacement. The internal boot / mid row of seat height is a real deal breaker for me as I use an internal rack that clamps the fork dropouts therefore transporting the bikes vertically. As I'm a long 'un the saddle height is really quite high so the roof level needs to be as high as possible (I could drop the saddle but it's on a carbon aero frame so I don't want to if at all possible).
Does anyone have a Galaxy (current shape) or S Max that they could run a tape over the floor to ceiling height with the middle row of seats folded down?
Alternative vehicle suggestions accepted as long as they have the ability to seat 7 on occasion.
Not sure what the heightis in the SMax but you definately need to remove the seat or lower the dropper. Also there is a lower section in the roof right at the back where, even with the seat lowered in the dropper, you have to angle the bike to get it in. Once in its OK though:-

Both these bikes are medium 29er AM bikes, and there is not much extra room length wise - but you could fashion a bracket to mount the bikes further forward. I suspect the SMax might not do it for you if you want to keep the seatposts in.
Problem is the seats dont come out... 🙁
What about one of the last Seat Alhambra's...
Same as the old Galaxy, & they made them up till a 59 plate.
New Alhambra has been out a year or two, so the older ones should be cheaper.
W-S, deffo rules out the S-Max then, although my rack orientates them with the rear wheel towards the front of the car. B*ugger I'd kinda hoped it would have worked as I quite like the look of them.
T-S, I'd thought about a late Seat but they are all diesel's with dreaded DPF's with their associated issues on top of all the issues the Galaxy, Sharan, Alhambra's have. (I've had quite list of them to date - alternator pulley, driveshafts, aircon, wiring breakages etc etc). On top of that they are still quite spendy for what is an 'old' car, albeit faults aside they are a good old bus....
