Looking at changing the Octavia with its DSG box, and like the size of the Focus estate. Any experience of the autobox, good and bad, out there?

Cheers

We had one as a hire car.

Not used a dsg box but compared to the one in the parents range rover it felt much better and much closer to what their old merc e330 was like. A far cry from the autoboxes of old i was used to , the ones that get confused easy.

I was very impressed with it when coupled with the 2.0petrol engine and managed to get 54mpg out of it over 1600 miles of mainly M road driving

Put your foot in to over take and it responded quick - which is where the parents range rover and older autos always struggled imo , foot in - by the time it decided to kick down you were too late.

I have been in a few new ish Ford Galaxies recently with their dual clutch offering. Felt as good as a DSG which is what you'd expect, as a passenger at least. I think it's called powershift or something like that.

We've just bought a C-Max Powershift, compared to the Peugeot Automatic we had before the difference is night and day, smooth, fast shifts and the Tdci 2.0 has been giving around 38 mpg around town, and 58mpg on a recent A road and Motorway journey.
