My one and only reservation is “after all this time, what if it turns out to be utter shit?” They say that it’s not always wise to meet your heroes.

I drove a couple of classics that I had decided I was desperate to own, Capri, Mini, Morris.

Then I bought a BMW E46 300ci coupe auto ! lol.

It was a wise choice.

Although when I give up work and move I'm doing a beetle.

It handled like a dog, was very slow, despite being the GT with a whole 86bhp (hahahahaha).

Imagine what it would handle like with the torque of even a non turbo modern 2L! A bit like a small boat in a rough sea I would imagine 😁

A guy around the corner from my sister's place in Essex has one just like that.... Great looking motor.

Mine is sat in the garage waiting for me to finish the fight with tin worm.
It has a treat though, have a modern engine to go in it instead of the aging efi'd pinto turbo that was in there.
Had two previously when younger. In the snow was very funny until you lost it.

Back in the 70's when we all had knackered old Imps a mate bought a brand new Capri 2.0S. It felt like a supercar compared to what we were used to. Had a camping trip to Perranporth and with him drunk in the back of his Capri, we had to drive it back to the campsite. Seem to remember seeing 120mph on the speedo down a long hill 🙂
And back in the early 80's when I was autotesting in my Escort another friend who had just had his Capri repaired after a bump on the road put it on it's side in one of the carparks at Brand Hatch during the lunchbreak on one event!

My dad had a Cortina 1600e, then a Mark 2 Capri - I was a toddler and only remember the Capri.

I bet he wishes he still had the Cortina.
