went bilberry picking this avo, locally at Teggs Nose. They're ready a good month early this year! 3 hours in the sun and we had a kilo of the little beauties 🙂 wifey's going to do some jam, but I like the idea of a homebrew bilberry vodka??
is it easy to do ?
bilberry, will be next on my list, bilberry vodka sounds ace 😉
Just been bagging up cherries from out local park, got a tesco's carrier full of them!
The birds don't seem to be bothering with them this year for some reason?
I can see a cherry pie making marathon going on this Sunday if the weather gets dull 😉
We have cherry trees in town but I'm not sure if they're ornamental or not? Don't want to get gut rot!
Any fruit and alcohol is easy to do. I've got some limoncello on the go between batches of sloe gin. Just get a great big clip top jar, break the skins of the fruit (bashing, running under hot water etc), throw them in and cover with alcohol. I am using up the last of my proper 96% alcohol for the limoncello, so that might be a bit mad again. You do temper it with a sugar syrup afterwards to make it sweet and weak enough to drink!
Looks like there's going to be a good crop of the little hedgerow cherry plums too. Green version of those purple leafed ones you see in gardens everywhere. Bit small and sharp to eat but good for jam / booze.
THought it said Forgers, I was about to recount my tale of using brakefluid to lift the ink of an Australian pinkslip in Syndey to get a van sold when I was backpacking.
Do you need to use a Demi John thingy?
