For a bit of a change from current news.
Lieutenant Colonel Blyth sees the footage of his (crash)landing for the first time and talks about his photo-reconnaissance flights from Oxford to Berlin and back in the Spitfire Mk XI.
The story and 15m short documentary at

Thanks for sharing link. Excellent short film.
Brilliant, thanks
Wonderful. The look on his face when he sees himself 63 years later. 😀
That was mint! Thanks for sharing.
Bookmarked to watch later, but had a quick skim of the article. In particular:
"The planes were painted sky blue to help them “blend in” but it didn’t seem to do much good. Colonel Blyth said he regularly came under fire and all he could do was keep flying and try to ignore it."
Amazing people......
That is worth seeing, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing,great little film.
Thankyou, my old man will love this.
That was ace.
I grew up near RAF Northolt and had the RAF memorial flight flying in and out most summers. It is a defining noise from my childhood. Once you hear the Merlins in a Hurricance, Spitfire or Lancaster you never forget it and can pick it out very clearly from anything else.
Thanks enormously for that. I've just forwarded it to my 93yo fil who was a spitfire pilot. He trained in Falcon Field in Arizona and still goes out there (on his own) to give lectures, attend ceremonies etc. He'll be thrilled, thanks again.
Just bloody marvellous! What a great little film, I felt quite emotional watching his reaction on seeing the footage for the first time!
Thanks for linking to it. 😀
Incredible story, thanks for sharing.
A man amongst men.
Also looks odd seeing a Spit with the American markings.
Cheers OP
