Anyone been?

Looks like I'll have some time to kill over a weekend there, and thought I might give it a fair dinkum go, cobber!

I have probably just enough knowledge of the game to know what's going on.

Thanks, Mike. May take you up on that. Flight gets in at 0600ish on a Sunday, so will have a day to try and stay awake! Footy was an idea to help with the awake bit!

Only issue with the G is that with 50,000 people in it still seems empty. So if you’re after atmosphere, I’d probably head to a VFL game, and then go on a tour of the G to be bored to death about Bradman.

If you head over Adelaide way give us a shout.

Thanks, Zokes.

Sydney and Melbourne on this trip (for the Oz bit, anyway). Perth might happen in a few months, but Adelaide?  No one needs paper clips there, sadly! 😉

That one is probably good, spotty dog, stomping ground then on from there, or pop into the south Melbourne spec shop and ask if Jono is there 😉 you could probably do it on the local borris bikes.

Id also suggest whyskie and alement for a quiet drink

I had two witty ripostes to that:

1) It's because we're so advanced we've truly embraced the paperless office, or

2) It's because we're so backward we still have this guy on all our computers:

I get over to Perth a far bit, and know most of the other major cities well enough, so PM me if you are ever downunder and fancy a ride / pint, and it's possible I'll actually be in the same place.

Re: Melbourne, make sure you pop into the Napier Hotel in Fitzroy for both surprisingly good food, and one of the few traditional inner-city pubs that's been relatively unspoilt. I'm sure I don't need to mention Lygon street for an Italian. Sydney has a few good haunts, but I always tend to gravitate towards The Rocks. Most of the more hedonistic areas (Oxford Street, King's X) have been decimated by the puritanical state government's very draconian licensing laws sadly.

Yes but as daughter barracks for Collingwood it's a bit of waste of time for us

Think the big match this weekend is Richmond Hawthorn so won't be half empty

It's all good natured no crowd separation at least you can buy beer and there are a couple of bars that do decent ale

Better live than on tv my opinion lokking down can see flow of play

Easy to get to on train and plenty of extra ones

Programs $5 called something like The Record only outside ground worth getting for player reviews and stats

Evening games finish late lots of stoppage time work on 10pm ish

Mikewsmiths' brewery tour plus a game would be a good day out
