I agree, lack of rotation perhaps affecting them? They look knackered. When Salah isn’t assisting/scoring they look short of ideas. I think they’ll stagger over the line when it should have been a cruise really.
What a performance by Arsenal and Declan Rice! Hope they can finish the job.
When did Declan Rice become David Beckham then? 😳
Watched the first half, decided it would be one of those nights where Arsenal were never going to score and changed channels.
I'm an idiot.
I'm mildly optimistic about Villa's chances tonight. I can't see how PSG can have a clue about our line up or tactics tonight seeing how we've fielded about 24 players in the last few games.
I've got a ticket for the return match next Tuesday so just hoping we've still got that optimism on the long walk to the Holte End.
Enjoyed that last night.
In the first 20 minutes it seemed like RM were going to win comfortably.
The 2nd half and Arsenal absolutely battered them.
That was fun to watch. They made RM look average and although RM had a couple of chances in the 1st half, Arsenal were on top. Got to carrying on attacking on the away trip and don't go on the defensive...
And in the Championship, Leeds have been thrown a bit of a lifeline with the way results went last night. If we'd ended up drawing that game (which was a distinct possibility given how the second half went), it would have been so frustrating, having had two perfectly good goals ruled out for offside. Bamford's lovely strike was a mile onside!
Looks like Rashford has found his cloak of invisibility he left in Manchester. Been totally eclipsed by the Scrabble winning Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Looks like our butter-fingered goalkeeper has been proving the old adage that if you’re going to give it the big I am then it’s probably best if you’ve actually got something to back it up with
An absolute clown! Matic must be laughing his tits off!
Yeah, that was stupid. He’s always got a howler or two in him. But the stats are pretty positive I think in terms of his save percentage/expected saves/whatever - always outdone by a howler though! Though the errors wouldn’t matter as much if Garnacho, Hoijlund etc could hit a barn door.
An absolute clown! Matic must be laughing his tits off!
Did the telly director pan to the Lyon bench after either goal so we could see for ourselves?
Another couple of years of watching the wonderful Mo Salah - excellent.
Or not. I was hoping he’d take the money and head for Saudi 😩
Popped over to Britannia to watch Northampton v Reading and catch up with some mates. Forgot how much fun live games are.
Match was a proper bore but cracking atmosphere.
Surely this must be the end for Ange. If the bottom three weren't so woeful, Spurs (and Man Utd) would be on squeaky bum time.
Surely this must be the end for Ange.
Ruben out there trying to save him. Underperforming 'big clubs' need to stick together.
Dear god, that was absolutely awful! We just seem to be getting worse and worse. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I predicted 5-1 but they decided to stop at 4 and have a bit of a kickabout for a while.
Keano has just summed it up nicely, as always. The worst United squad ever and Amorim must have come in and been truly staggered that the club has spent so much money and ended up with a squad this bad
There’s no doubt that if there weren’t 3 teams at the bottom who really are bad, we’d be in a relegation scrap for sure. And deservedly so.
Roy sounds unimpressed. Although parts of his analysis were only audible to dogs.
It’d be a travesty if United win the donkey cup and get in the champions league.
I think we’re going to do it, just because it’d be the most mental thing ever! Finish 14th or 15th, possibly 16th and qualify for the Champions League.
We won the FA Cup last year and the League Cup the year before, all while playing like a pub side
I could not believe the arrogance of Garnacho's celebration. You would think he was hammering them in on a weekly basis.
For that alone, Man Utd deserved that hiding.

.
Did you miss Hojlands celebration when he scored on international duty? He did the Ronaldo thing, despite the fact that prior to that he hadn’t scored for months and he hasn’t scored since.
The gap between their enormous egos and their extremely limited capabilities is a huge yawning chasm
He should of just and got the ball and went back to the centre circle.
Zirkzee had a half decent game before he pulled his hamstring. I think he will be missed.
If you lose Bruno F, then it could get embarrassing.
Man Utd are still 2nd favourites to win the UEFA League and qualify for the CL!
All the Arsenal fans still drunk then?
Not rating the chances of the Ballon D'Or going to one of the Galacticos this year. Hope they don't sulk too much. 🤣
Don't worry, Trent will shore up their leaky defence. Wonder if watching those two legs he's having second thoughts?
S****y French football fans
Another triumph for the swear filter! Also, it leaves enough letters there to suggest an actual profanity, rather than a word that means 'posh'...
It’s the hope that kills you. I’m waiting for a quick succession of Onana howlers 😬
And right on cue…
****ing idiot!
This is painful, even for the neutral.
Spurs playing in red tonight?
OMG!!!!
Looks like I picked a bad time to make my Ovaltine.
I take back all my relentless slating of slabhead. Compared to the rest of the donkeys out there, he’s Messi!
Easter Island will be proud.
He’s better up front than Hoijlund!
Crikey, that was nuts.
Exciting game but having to come back against a 10 man Lyon, is not really a good sign for the state of things at Man Utd.
You just need to have watched us in any game this season to know how bad we are. This squad is absolutely awful! Bruno is the only decent player out of the lot of them.
Slabhead being deployed as a makeshift Andy Carrol tribute act in the last 10 minutes tells you everything you need to know about how toothless we are up front. It’s not the first time Amorim has done it.
It should have been over by half time and would have been if we had anyone who could hit a barn door with a shovel. We created loads of chances but they all ended up in Row Z, as always
The ironic thing is if they do somehow end up winning it and get in the CL half the squad will be replaced.
Hopefully more than half. They're absolutely useless.
Though how on earth they're going to move on such crap players, who we've paid enormous transfer fees for, all sat on long contracts on huge wages is going to be interesting, to say the least.
The club is either going to have to take a massive (and I do mean MASSIVE) financial hit, possibly running into hundreds of millions, to offload them or we'll still be saddled with them all next season, seeing out their contracts and Amorim having no budget to bring in new players. I suspect its going to be the latter due to the ever-farcical way the ownership do everything
More immediately, with Spuds winning last night too, we could end up with ridiculous situation of a Europa League final, a Champions League place at stake, between the teams sitting 14th and 15th in the EPL. Madness!
Spurs are now favourites to win it.
HTAF?
Crazy game at Old Trafford. Maguire saving them again. He's such an awkward looking player. Sometimes he doesn't look like he's ever played the game. Even his header to win it last night, his body position was so wrong looking, but somehow it goes in.
I'm still recovering after our wins against RM. My dad would have loved that if he was still around, kind of had a bit of a moment when the final whistle went on Wednesday night.
Player for player Spurs are better than United. Whether either can beat Bodo or Bilbao is another thing!
Another step towards promotion for Leeds against a tough Oxford who recently beat Sheffield Utd. Let's hope we beat Stoke on Monday and Sheffield Utd either draw or lose to Burnley.
#MOT #ALAW
Obviously the big footballing news this week is that Shrewsbury Town are now definitely going down, rather than 99.999% certain to go down.
Oh well. At least we have that one, priceless, win over Wrexham as consolation to keep us warm while we trudge through a few seasons in L2. The Robins will probably be knocking on the door of the PL by then...
MOT - what a game. I had an awful feeling it was still going to go tits up but we were brutal today.
My SM is interesting this morning - Leeds friends seeming to believe they have some God given right to be in the Premier League because they were great in the 70s*, my Burnley mate proud that they had played brilliantly this season to get back up.
*As an Ipswich fan, it really doesn't work like that!
Leeds friends seeming to believe they have some God given right to be in the Premier League
I'm not sure why you are getting that from your Leeds supporting friends – I am a lifelong fan and follow several Leeds Facebook Fan groups, and I rarely (if ever) hear people suggesting we have a right to be in the Premier League. If anything it is often the opposite, especially when we have had a bad result.
Anyway.

Charlton are flying at the moment (9-2-1) and did us a big favour by putting 4 past Wycombe and us back in pole position. We’ve got them at home on Saturday which should be a cracker. I’m in the temporary stand with no roof so hope the rain stays off.
because they were great in the 70s
Well, yes, we had a great team in the 70s, but then we had success again in the early 90s with the Howard Wilkinson team that won the last First Division title before the Premiership was formed and again in the late 90s and the millennium with consistent top five finishes in the Premiership and reaching the Champions' League semi final.
*As an Ipswich fan, it really doesn't work like that!
It's fine to be salty when you and the other promoted teams have stunk the league out this season mate. MOT, ALAW!
I still can't believe how tight it is at the bottom of the Championship - even Stoke in 17th place & on 50pts I don't think at 100% safe.
I think if Plymouth (currently bottom but on 43 pts) go down the blame can firmly rest with the appointment of a certain Wayne Rooney.

Bookmarked for potential use in April 2026. 😉

Recent history suggests that might come back to haunt you, the gap between top of Champs and bottom of PL seems to be getting bigger each year. Dominating the Champs didn't seem to work for Leics and Ipswich last time, you're going to have to adapt to survive.

Nottingham Forest have shown it can be done, though (and Leeds did to a lesser extent until teams worked out how to play against Bielsa-Ball and he refused to change things).
Leeds (and Burnley and whoever else comes up with us) need to realise that you can't:
- buy nobody (Southampton) and keep attempting kamikaze football like Russell Martin did. Sack him and appoint someone even worse. Get relegated.
- buy nobody (Leicester) and get a bit fed up that Steve Cooper hasn't catapulted your championship side into the top half so sack him and appoint someone on a whim after a mediocre temporary stint at ManU. Fall even quicker whilst breaking records for being rubbish. Rely on 53 year old Jamie Vardy for goals. Get relegated.
- construct what should be a brilliant championship side to try and compete in the Premiership (Ipswich). Show how desperate you are by signing Kalvin Phillips on loan. Get relegated.

Forest just bought everyone and hoped something would stick which to be fair, seems to have worked in conjunction with Nuno joining despite the rocky start he had. I think signings like Hudson-Odoi (wasn't be something like 700k?!) and Elanga have been superb for them... its those sorts of signings we could/should be looking at... deemed not quite good enough for Chelsea/Man City/Liverpool (I won't say ManU as tbf, my mum would probably be considered for a starting 11 place there currently) but who are actually decent players.

As I've said on the Leeds forum, I still think the last couple of seasons have not been as representative of the gulf in class as has been reported.
DaveyBoy has it right, Leicester and Sheffield United got promoted, sold their best players then didn't buy well (lost the manager in Leicesters case too). Southampton and Burnley had managers who played a certain way with players simply not able to do it competitively in the Prem then refused to change when the inevitable happened. Ipswich and Luton probably got promoted too early having had superb Champo runs the year before and simply were not equipped to compete. No reason Ipswich can't come straight back up and make a better go of it next time IMO, they have amassed a great Championship squad.
Certainly not saying Leeds will have it easy but parachute payments have maintained a good squad so investing in quality to add to that should give us a chance. Same for Burnley if they can build on their insane defence but I think they'll have a job keeping on to some of their stars like Trafford where as I don't think we have anyone that will attract stupid bids that we can't turn down.
Who knows? We'll see.

Forest only did it by gambling with the financial fair play rules.
And working out of an office in Nottingham, again another group of fans with an exaggerated view of what they are entitled to. Though this year they have been fantastic, annoyingly.
They did it by cheating, just as Everton did which was slightly annoying when we went down and they didn't. Leicester too which meant they could keep the players that took them back up, once again at our expense.
I certainly won't apologise for being happy that we clawed our way back up, especially given the financial ramifications for missing out this year.
Forest escaped by the skin of their teeth the first season back in, last day win against Arsenal IIRC. Second season they bought big AND have totally revamped their style accordingly.....averaging 30-something % possession and hitting on the break. Which is great when it works, but go behind and it's hard to change.
I'm not saying Leeds are certainties to go down, what I'm pretty certain of is that you can't just come up and play the same way you are at the moment, and you might need to stink things up a bit with smash and grab 'dirty' tactics. Should suit you just fine 😉
We tend to sit back and hit on the break once ahead so hopefully won't too much tweaking. Farke is very cautious but most of the Championship are terrible so make us look more attacking than we naturally are!
I'm pretty sure that if Leeds go down it will be because the FA/Premiership/referees and media are all against them.
Gary Neville on goalkeeping :sighs:
Good save, strong hands and wrists from close range, just really unlucky it bounces out onto his foot and back in. TBH, that's an OG for me, he saved the Silva effort.
Dias got his toe on the ball before making contact with Ramsey, why don't the var show all the angles
It wasn't a clear and obvious error in my book, but it was almost like a second phase of play, Dias didn't exactly win the ball in a tackle, as in take the ball off Ramsey, he got a tiny touch but the ball was still rolling on into Ramsey's possession before he was clattered.
I'm pretty sure that if Leeds go down it will be because the FA/Premiership/referees and media are all against them.
Rather than other teams cheating and us appointing a terrible manager and a load of awful players?
I see that the undisputed grand master of shithousery is retiring at the end of the season.
I read a story that he finds out the nationality of all the defenders he’ll be up against and then researches the most heinous insults in their particular language to throw at them. You have to admire the commitment really
Wow, Spurs are woeful.
Bloody hell Liverpool.
I see that the undisputed grand master of shithousery is retiring at the end of the season
I saw someone speculate that he'll be off to Wrexham for a season or so now. Doesn't seem like a bad shout tbh!

Typical click bait story that seems to be the way the media works. Over time seen similar stories on Bale, Ibrahimovic and even Ronaldo.
This was just a bloke in the pub, not the media.
Tbf tho Ronaldo at Wrexham would be hilarious 😆

Well he's 48 now and 48 stone so not sure he'd be that effective.
This Barca Inter game is a real humdinger.
Can’t believe Yamal is 17!! What a player.
