I've seen mentions in a few place about folding at home (link https://foldingathome.org/2020/02/27/foldinghome-takes-up-the-fight-against-covid-19-2019-ncov/), and it sounds like a good idea.

What they don't explain is how is their work contributing to the ongoing vaccine exploration by pharma companies? Are the F@H results being shared with them? And is it net new research, or is it duplicating work that other labs do themselves?

unlikely it will. folding at home has been going for 19 years and I've yet to see anything useful come out of it (there maybe but I've not seen it yet).

its basically using home computers as a large node to provide computing power. it is a molecular dynamics simulator.

Trawling around on reddit etc seemed to suggest the same thing. It's better than doing nothing, but the net impact on previous drug development has been relatively small due to what it's modelling compared to what pharma testing involves. :/
