As part of a programme of physiotherapy to alleviate some knee pain, they've got me doing this business or laying on a roller & squishing some bits about inside my legs. Were it not for the fact that the physio seems to be able to do it without any pain, i could have swore it was some sort of sadistic practice intended to make me cry.
Is it really supposed to hurt this much?

It's a well know fact that Physio's have no perception of pain, at all.

Rolling your quads hurts like hell if you have knee issues or you've recently started cross-training.

Yes. It gets better with time/practice. Apparently.

The gf came flying downstairs because she thought we were being burgled, and I was having a fight with a masked intruder. No, it was just me profusely swearing at the foam roller whilst trying to roll my IT band.

I really should stretch more.. 😳

Quads fine for me, I don't know anyone who it doesn't hurt their ITB. Apparently it gets easier the more you do it..

It hurts when tillering bits that are tight. When they are looser, either after repeated rolling or simply after a period of rest, it hardly hurts at all. In other words, the more it hurts the more you need it 🙂

You can take some of the weight off by touching the ground with your other foot, which can sometimes make it more doable.

I've suffered ITBS for 20 years. This is the only treatment/info that made the blind bit off difference. Worth every penny of the £15 (or similar) i spent to download it:
