Anyone any particular recommendations for a FM transmitter?
Our car only has a CD player and crap FM radio so want to get something so I can easily listen to more music and podcasts etc on epic car journeys in the middle of the night.
Got a Sandisk Clip MP3 for what its worth.
Don't bother - they are all crap. Get a Dension direct input FM (plugs directly into the back of the radio). I tried about 4 before spending the money on one - wish I had done it straight away.
Thanks. FM reception on my car stereo is crap too, so I had my doubts. Brill advice, I'll have a look at Dension....
Other one to look at is the GROM unit. Mate has one, its excellent
Are you using an ipod? If so - I have a good connects2 modulator one kicking around somewhere from my old car, far better than a transmitter. Just needs a 12v feed (easily taken from cig lighter etc) and it plugs into the fm input, with a bypass so you still get radio.
Only downside is you have to have an ipod/iphone as it's got the apple attachment - although you could probably pick up an aux lead.
Drop me an email if you're interested.
EDIT: Just read the last line of your post.....! D'oh. To answer the OP, Denison are good if expensive. What car/stereo is it? You may find there's already facility for some form of input on it which you can get a lead fro, which will sound better than anything FM.
Bandito, to be honest, you would be far better off binning the current head-unit and getting a new one that has a USB port in the front, that way you can plug the charge/dock cable for your Clip into the head unit and play directly from it, or get a cheap 32Gb thumb drive, stick a load of music on it, and leave it in the car for when you want something other than the radio. I've got a Kenwood DAB unit in my car now, and having the USB is brilliant, I can just dock my phone or iPod straight in, and I've just ordered a tiny little Sandisk 32Gb drive that I'll leave permanently stuck in the head unit.
I've found an adaptor on fleabay that would let me use the CD-changer line in, but that costs £45 and involves some re-wiring.
Dension don't seem to do a model compatible with my car.
Think I'll try a cheap FM transmitter first, if that fails I'll look at replacing the head unit.
thanks all.
