Hey

Got some easyjet flights booked at the weekend and have realised that the name i put on the booking for my mate is slightly wrong VS his passport.

I have looked at changing it and online it wants to charge me over £80 to change it!

Can I get away with booking as Mr xxxxx When his passport is Mr yyyyyy-xxxxx
(a hyphenated surname he generally doesnt use the first part of)

Will i get away with it? Worth trying it on with sleazyjet on the phone?

Flight tickets last year had my sons wrong date of birth, went to loads of trouble getting new tickets issued at airport to be told its not required. Name may be different, who's fault, its a lot of money they are trying to charge, check the small print. Leave your mate at home........

Here's the reply:

The official line is “his ticket must exactly match the passport”

If it’s the airline’s or travel agent’s fault – then shouldn’t be any cost involved for him to get name change. Any expense will have to be borne by them. However, If he’s given the wrong name, and it’s a non-changeable/refundable ticket, he may have to pay for a new ticket.

On the other hand he could risk it at the airport but they might refuse him to board.

I am yet again amazed at STW, that doesnt look good though 🙁

I might give sleay a call and try and get them to change it nicely
Otherwise I might chance it.

I've had the same with FlyBe only I didn't realise until at the airport. We just spoke to the airline desk who logged in and changed, no charge. They said to me they only charge if you're changing to a different person rather than correcting a name.
